Haven't seen 2F2F (and probably never will) but I saw an episode of "Trucks" (a TV show on TNN) and the dude on the show showed how it's done (maybe not exactly the same type of flame though).

It is actually quite simple.

The basic idea is to install a spark plug into the exhaust tip, hook it up to a coil and a switch, and when you want flames, you rev the engine to about 3000 RPM, press your switch, and start blipping the throttle. The spark plug in the exhast would ignite any unburned fuel and cause flames to come out the back.

On the truck in the show, he had about 2-3' flames shooting out the back. The truck in the show however, was pretty old, so I don't know if new cars pass enough fuel to ignite.

The trick to the whole thing was to get a long spark plug so the electrode could be centered in the exhaust as well as placing the plug no more than a few inches from the very tip of the exhaust (don't want your flame to be hidden by the pipe).

Anyhow, that Trucks show is pretty damn cool sometimes.

goodadog: there was another post about this a while back. I think it was a kit (in production or planning stage) and I recall there was a picture, as well. Do a search... the truth is out there.
