Need help deciding if I need HFC's to help w/ my other mods???
I have an 04 performance 6mt Z and when im done performance modding in a few months I will have in total, K&n typhoon intake, AAM plenum spacer, AAM 3" true dual, JWT clutch and flywheel, 3.9 FD, Nismo LSD, and a Technosquare ecu reflash to finish it all off. my question is that, with all of these mods, do you think i would benefit from getting High flow Cats before getting the reflash, or does the 3" dual exhaust suffice for exhaust flow? if you think i should, then what kind of cats would you recommend? btw i dont want test pipes, only HFC's or just keep the catback alone.
Thanks, Jim
Thanks, Jim
i already have the catback intake and spacer, im just asking if it would be worth it to get HFC's w/ the additional 3.9 FD and the JWT clutch and flywheel mods and a tune?
You have a beautiful cat back exhaust, but two “chock points” before the exhaust. Think about it.
You also confound the question by mentioning no-horsepower producing mods such as like a flywheel and final drive.

^^^^ I am not sure what you mean by that. what do you mean by the choke points? would the headers and cats be the choke points your talking about? I am just wondering if I could have any kind of horsepower gain without losing any additional torque. the FD, clutch and flywheel will increase my ability to rev faster.

You already lost as much torque as you're going to lose with that 3" dual. The headers are not much of a choke point unless you live on the redline. I think the cats are by far the most restrictive item in the exhaust path. If you're determined to hold on to that exhaust, low end losses from anything else you replace would be masked.
Ok thankyou for your help, i think that i will get some HFC's and just leave the headers alone, i hear the install is very in depth anyway. thankyou for the recommendations.
