Default Exhaust Comparo

I'm still torn as to which exhaust to get. This isn't a Borla vs. Injen post. I group Borla and Injen in the same camp for this particular thread. I'm wondering if I should get the stainless, less expensive exhaust or splurge and get the Top Secret offering.

I did some calculations and the performance benefit for stainless and titanium are nearly identical. I made a couple assumptions (15 whp gain and weight slightly lower than stock for Borla; 8 whp gain and 45 lb weight savings for Top Secret) and came up with 12.50 lb/whp for the Borla and 12.57 lb/whp for Top Secret.

As you can see, the numbers are almost identical, so I think the performance will be equally identical. Both will have a great sound. The Top Secret is louder from what I hear, but pleasantly louder I'm sure. The only things that differentiates these exhausts are price and the allure of a JDM Ti exhaust (everyone loves the blue ring).

What do you guys think? And did you do any performance estimates of your own?

The "blue ring"? You mean like this?, but most Ti's (which stands for titanium just in case ydk) don't have a "blue ring". Top Secret's doesn't.

Why don't you keep your bullsh*t, ******* comments to yourself. Amuse just treats theirs from the factory so it turns out like that and its a big selling point.

Why don't you just put in something constructive instead of being an ******* all the time? I asked for opinions on USDM vs. JDM exhausts basically.

Be specific, I was finding it hard to understand what you were asking. I wasn't trying to be a smart@$$ , the what Ti means was to anyone who didn't know what it stands for. I didn't understand what you meant by "blue ring". I am not an a-hole, people don't understand that you can't just be broad when asking question's and except the exact answer, you have to be specific, don't take my posts wrong, I am trying to figure out where your coming from. Now, most usdm exhausts are pretty cheap, they use clamps as opposed to flanges to connect the pipes, so I would say JDM's have better build quality, but if you don't care whether there is clamps as opposed to flanges, get a USDM.

Honestly, I was just being broad and throwing a few things out there because I want to see what everyone bases their decisions on.

It's cool that alot of Japanese companies use better (race) design inspirations, but I'm still not sold on that being worth triple what a Borla costs given that they perform the same. I know titanium is hard to work with and Amuse does alot to ensure a quality product, but would you choose to pay more for the titanium exhaust even though it offers the same performance (lb/whp) as a stainless exhaust from Borla or Injen? If not, other than the obvious budget reason, why would you shy away from the JDM titanium exhausts such as Amuse and Top Secret?

I'm not really looking for a precise answer because there really isn' one. I'm just guaging where everyone stands on the subject so I can take all that info into account when I finally decide. Thanks for the reply.
