Default MD Plenum Spacer install problem

I just installed my plenum spacer today and ran into some problems. After I had put in my spacer in and put the top peice back on I was screwing in the final screws to wrap up my installation. When screwing in the bolts tightly some of them would all of a sudden come lose again. So I would tighten it but it wouldn't stop it keeps going but its not tightening, this happened on a couple of my bolts.

I didn't know how much it was going to affect the air coming into my engine so I started it up and idle and everything is fine. I took it for a test drive and when i punch the gas i can hear a loud squeek which I am sure is because of the screws not tightening for some reason.

What am I supposed to do, it doesn't really make sense to me why it wont tighten.. :/

This might sound stupid but you should be using the bolts that came with your kit as they are longer than the stock ones.

Also use a torque wrench if possible

If you don't have a torque wrench that measures inch pounds, just use a hand driver to tighten the bolts. Then use a ratchet to give 'em 1/4 turn extra. Also don't forget to torque the bolts in a star pattern so the clamping force is evenly distributed.

This was somewhat humorous.....Kinda.

And for future installers----read the instructions and don't TRY to get a torque wrench----GET one

Glad it worked out

If the torque wrench is out of calibration=broken and stripped everything.

It took two bolts to realize this.

guess I Was wrong, I ran into another problem..

Since you are familiar with the topic I thought I would ask for your help. After the installation I ran into a few more problems. I did not have a torque wrench on hand so I just tightened it down not as tight as I could but fairly tight.

My engine seemed to be struggling when I started it from 1st gear, and when I first get into 2nd. It makes weird sounds and I am worried about my engine so I did not get on the throttle at all, but I can tell something is wrong. Is it a possibility I tightened the bolts down too much? Or would this problem be because I did not tighten them enough?

The idle is about 600.. which seems a little less than normal..

If it's idling rough, you have a plenum leak...
