i just got my nismo intake today. i was thinking that i would hear something after i installed it. i didnt hear ****. does anyone have a k&n intake? thats what i should have gotten. does anyone elses nismo intake sound louder than the engine? i am disappointed.

if you wanted sound you should look for Pop charger first. cheap and nice sound.

 

i didnt install the cold air on the nismo. i didnt want to take off the bumper.

 

am i lost?? i thought you got nismo intake. you mean you just installed nismo filter?

 

oh sorry i installed the nismo intake. its an cold air system. i put the short version of it on i was lazy to put the rest on. so its kind of like a pop charger right?

wtc? so let me get this straight. You bought a nismo cold air system but didnt want to install the "cold air" part of it and you wonder why it doesnt do anything? Probably because it was designed as a cold air system, not a short ram intake . Does it have an option to only install half of it? I have a suggestion, try installing the whole system as it came and then compare before and after.

K, the OP is obviously a little out of the loop.

First of all, install the whole **mn thing. I didn't take my bumper off. All I did was jack up the car about 3 inches, take out the wheel well and feed in the bottom half through the bottom. I did this back when I knew nothing so it couldn't have been that hard.

I know that sounds dumb, but seriously, were you expecting 50+hp from an intake. I mean, on a dyno you may get anywhere from 2-5+hp but I would be surprised if it were any more than that.

As far as the sound, I don't want to say that it doesn't sound better, but it is barely noticeable. What I do hear that wasn't there before is, under hard acceleration, I hear a little bit of the air whistling through.

These are some of the best mods for an NA 350Z:
1) Plenum Spacer
2) Test Pipes
3) Pulley Kit
4) Some sort of Cat-Back such as the HKS Hi Power Exhaust
5) A set of headers

actually the long tube version is less effective than the short tube... i had the full thing installed with the filter behind the bumper and actually felt like it was lagging... i got tired of it and made it a short ram and felt a signifigant improvement on throttle response... problem is it doesnt have a heat sheild so im going to completely re-do my intake because the nismo/AEM is a waste of money to me

 

+1 Just installed mine yesterday. All I can say is DAMN now I hear something under the hood. It has that ssshhhh sound and it growls.
