I just installed the MREV2 and a 5/8 Plenum Spacer. The engine is super loud and has a deeper growl, especially in the low RPMS of the first and second. I love the newly added low end torque and throttle response, but the added noise will take some getting use to. Is there anything I can do, other then removing the spacer and mrev2, that can dampen the engine noise?

That growling noise is normal incase ur wondering. Why wouuld you want to dampen such a pretty noise Its not much louder than the stock exhaust. The best way to get rid of that noise is to remove an intake if you have one, put the stock airbox on..

 

There are two ways you can be making the additional sound.

Induction sound - These mods always increase the induction sound. Most people consider it a good thing. If you have any kind of cold air intake, short ram intake or anything like it, take the intake off to reduce the sound. The stock box is much quieter than any aftermarket intake.

Hood rubbing sound - The 5/8" spacer is known to sometimes rub against the hood. Check your plenum for rub marks and check the underside of your hood to see if there is any scratched paint. If its rubbing, the only fix is a smaller plenum spacer.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Yes I have a cold air intake and have the oem strut bar installed. The engine block is almost very flush against the strut bar. I'll remove the strut bar and see how that goes.

 

Yup it was the strut bar rubbing against the engine block, then causing the vibration to resonate throughout the whole chasis of the car. So you can only imagine that effect. Thank god - I was beginning to get annoyed with the sound. I removed the strut bar and the car now sounds a lot more normal, a bit louder

I guess I gotta get some spacers for the strut now

 

There are no strut bar spacers that will allow your strut bar to fit over a 5/8" plenum spacer.

Its too big.

Sell the 5/8ths and get a 5/16th from MD

 

Same here. either get the 5/16 or just dont put your strut bar which i dont recommend.

 

Say good bye to your strut bar. I've been without mine for about a year now. I really cant tell the difference.

Who makes the 5/8 spacer?? That's thicker than MD's 1/2in which i have!!:O

 

Skunk2 makes a 5/8" spacer.
As for clearance, it would only be possible if a really large strut bar spacer was used ...and a hood spacer to lift the hood about 1/2".
