+1...I have the Berk TPs and have already tested dual UEGOs from each pipe. BTW, although the built-in non-fouler is an interesting innovation, it doesn't work on my 08--Berk acknowledges this on their site. My temp fix was to install a small OBDII reader--which is tucked away in my dash cubby--so whenever the CEL comes on (only once, if at all, per driving session), I just press a button to clear it immediately.

Exended bung

I ordered the metallic's for my 06 a few months back and i left it in the "flush" one because i figured that it was the correct one since the other was capped off. everything SEEMED fine. three weeks or so go by and no problems. then i throw a code. i don't remember the number (p-something i think) but it was the cats. i took them back off and tried the stock ones again and it was fine. i was very careful to not damage the o2 sensors but called nissan anyway to see how much they were, like $280 a piece! talked to brian @ berk a couple of times and checked the cats to see if they were gummed up a bit, nope. eventually i ended up putting them in the extended bung and no problems for about 4 months now. and no codes.

I have the metalic and I put it in the extended bung because the metalic do not operate correctly until they are at a higher temp than ceramic. They can throw a code during this warm up period. 10 minutes or so after a cold start. Mine have been in for months and no codes. I also ran it on the dyno and the A/F was great.

Here are my A/F before the HCF with just the nismo exhaust and then after the metalic HFC and Nismo exh with the O2 in the long bung.

The A/F is measured by the dyno not the O2 sensor.

top lines are with the HFCs 13.0 ish on 93 gas

This is on my 07 these runs were to set base lines so we did not run it to redline.

I installed mine in the extended one as well. I dont think it matters, those o2 sensors really make no difference with the ecu as I understand; there is a sensor on the headers which is where is calculates.

the o2s in the cats are secondaries which only monitor if a catalyst is present. the primaries that you refered to are the ones that provide input to calculate a/f ratios along with the maf which reside the exhaust manifold or headers if you have them. i have my berk cats to install and would prefer to skip on throwing a cel. it seems like the extended one provides that.

yea thats what I thought. You wont throw a cel with the flush one but I didnt feel like messing with it and just put them in the extended one. Works great.

Official response from Berk regarding which bung to install O2 sensor....see below:

Hi Mike,

You want to use the longer bung, rear position.

I just finished installing them. I used the extended bung.

The install was fairly easy but I don't understand why Berk includes only 8 bolts/nuts instead of 10. I reused the one bolt/nut from each header. This isn't a big deal but it doesn't make much sense. Now every bolt/nut is a 16mm except for the ones I had to reuse which are 14mm. It doesn't mention in the instructions to reuse any bolt but it does say it comes with only 8 bolts and 8 nuts.

The other problem I have is the brackets don't line up.

I actually bought these cats back in October before they came with brackets. I've had them sitting in the box since then because I garage my Z for the winter. I finally got around to installing them but before I did I shipped them back to Berk's to have the brackets welded on.

After all that the brackets don't line up with the brace. I am trying to decide between modifying the brace or the brackets on the cats so they will line up.

I know the brace isn't absolutely necessary but I feel it does add some support. Especially since I have headers and a Borla TD. There is no flex in the exhaust system at all. I am worried that without the brace to help support everything something might eventually crack. I really don't feel like replacing a cracked header!
