Default New Test Pipes And weird SOund!HELP

i just got my titek test pipe installed on my car ..But after the install i went to test the pipe and im gettin this weird sound when i let the gas off around 2k..is like a rattle, metal on metal sound..i have the car jacked up and i did tight more the screws and the hangers and the screws are tight,i even changed the aftermarket gasket to the nissan ones to see if the problem goes away...it sounds like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_FMsIDBusQ but not to noticeable when idling only when running..i saw on that thread on youtube that this can be caused by the heatshield..?? any inputs!

yes, it could very well be a heatshield. make sure you have good clearance all the way around. It almost sounds like an exhaust leak in the vid...

thanks for the response..the sound was not present when this morning..i have the Borla exhaust and headers..how to i remove the headshield??is the heatshield the one located on the Y PIPE on the front where it connects to the test pipes or the one on the back? The sound is more a grindin noise..what could be this??i tried to remove the headshield but i only removed the clamp,is welded on 2 points...Does the removal pf the Y pipe Heatshield can cause any problems???

Sounds to me like rasp. Get a magnaflow x pipe and it will fix it. I'll send you a link in a little bit.

Its caused by whatever the test pipes are hitting. Difficult to diagnose without one person in the car revving the motor and one person under the car.

Do the test pipes have mounting brackets or are they just hanging?

I recommend that you keep the heat shields in place. Bend them maybe.

When I first installed mine they were hitting the brace that runs under the car in the rear. I don't know where else it could be hitting, but unbolt the exhaust and move it around a little bit until it stops.

man i really dont know what is rasp..yes the test pipes are secure by the brackts..how does the rasp sound??the sound is not present when revving on a stop..the sound is present when you let the gas off running is like something is loose and makes a grinding sound...but everything is secure..maybe i should remove the stock hangers that keep the pipes on place..anyone has pics of this correctly mounted?

that is my other guess the brace on the rear...the exhaust is pretty close to this..maybe the vibrations when letting of the gas produce this sound??! also i noticed that the sound is present when you run over bumpy roads...so that is my guess the brace..how do i unbolt the exhaust?!

Rasp occurs on the downrev and if you have test pipes and borla you have it. It sounds like you have a bad exhaust leak, but it's just the h pipe on the borla.

I like this idea. With support brackets test pipe moment is almost non-existent.

LOL. Members will describe “rasp” as an “unpleasant noise.” Although unpleasant it is not indicative of a mechanical problem such as metal-to-metal rattling.

that isnt rasp. it is more likely a heat shield or something. You need a buddy to lay under your car while you rev it. I agree with David, dont remove it, just bend it.

the heat shields are the one that wrap around the Y pipe with some kind of fiber on it or is the one on top of it attached to the underbody?
