06 airbox pix
I just purchased this, 2006 350z air box/ thought I would post some pics of the velocity stack. Since I have only found a few pictures floating around when I was looking.
I don't have much opinion on whether it's a worthwhile mod, but it was cheap enough and tempting for me.

I would bet money if you swapped back halves (non rev-up for rev-up & visa versa) without the driver knowing which was which – they would not be able to tell one bit of difference… I don’t care how much fluff has been posted about the magical fractions of an inch bigger velocity stack – it isn’t going to make any noticeable difference back to back.

Agreed.
Id take my JWT over the 06 airbox if it was given to me.

I don't think anybody has decided the ultimate intake.
06 has a JWT-like velocity stack and ensures cold air
JWT has a bigger filter but may get heat soaked
If you like more sound, go JWT.
If you are looking for a negligible power gain over stock with no extra noise... go 06 airbox.
If both cars were to line up at a drag strip, neither one really has an advantage.

I personally have a pop charger with an r2c dry filter, love the sound

Would be simple to close it off if it were that big of an issue.
Here's a pic of mine:
Whether the gains are big or small, they are supposed to "add up" right?

I used the JWT pop charger for about a year.. as I was selling my z, I put my '06 intake back on.. and guess what?! Throttle response was much better with the OEM box..
Intake is only for an audible change... It will not provide any more significant performance from oem..(maybe if you have internal engine mods + tune)

Most people fail to realize that it’s a combo of mods that makes gains… so many ppl go on and on about this does nothing, that does nothing – and of course by themselves on an otherwise stock car many do nothing. But if you complement certain breather mods with other proper tweaks, gains can be made.

And please never let me hear "intakes are only for sound change" again.
