Default Will resonators cause less rasp?

I have a custom true dual exhaust but at the top rpm's, it sounds raspy. I hate it... Will resonators cause less rasp? I have stock cats as well.
Do i need bigger piping?

X Pipe + Resonators will get rid of the rasp.

thx.
the piping is like this:

Stock cat - pipe - HKS hi-power ti.
Stock cat - pipe - HKS hi-power ti.

they are completely separated with no Y or X pipe.
I was wondering if it was just my set up. Ill try resonators once the exhaust breaks in.

how will it reduce rasp?
Does it need to equalize exhaust pressure to create a more solid sound or something?

Resonators expand the exahust opening on the entrance end, then reduce it back down to pipe size at the other. The diameter, length, and materials determine which frequency of sound (wavelength) will be partially cancelled by reflecting back and not passing out the other end. They normally do not constrain airflow sigificantly, however, at least not ones made with performance in mind.

That's the simplified version, check out something like howstuffworks.com, they probably have animated pics

But, they do work. Btw "mufflers" are usually just another form of resonators or resonator chambers, people just refer to the inline component before the pipe reaches the muffler and after cat as a "resonator". The work pretty well, and save many an I-4 motor from sounding like a chainsaw.

Yes, they will.

Just dont replace your cats with any type of test pipe (resonated or not) because the rasp will only get worse.
