Motordyne XYZ-Pipe (Pilot Production)
Im not really attacted to the sound in those vids like I was the 1 vid the guy had test pipes. Sounds just like a single exhaust set up. I wanna see DE non rev up with test pipes the full single y pipe and all, popcharger and maybe a plenum spacer and see what that makes. IDK if its just me but seems those HFCs are holding u back power and sound wise

Yes, thoes were Motordyne test pipes in the white Z. And they don't sound like most other test pipes because they arent like any other test pipe. The unresonated MD test pipes are probably the loudest, nastiest test pipes ever made for the Z.
They are brighter, louder, make a lil more power and have a greater tendancy to rasp.
The rasp still doesn't come through on the resonated XYZ and Shockwave exhaust but then again different exhaust systems will have different sensitivities to rasp.
When used on the resonated XYZ and Shockwave, it really lives up to the name Shockwave.
PS - I actually liked the sound of Plumpzz's system with the cats.
To me it sounds like a nice balance of exotic sound with moderated loudness.
PPS - everybody likes something different so I'll also offer a more normal resonated test pipe too.

The setup i had sounded nice. It didnt rasp. This weekend i'm going to swap the rear end with my JIC setup and see what it sounds like. I'm expected the rassp I had to go away since the resonator in the Y pipe is going to cover it up.

when I get my car back from the shop(lip kit) Ill get a vid of my 04' roadster with berk hfc's, 5/16 iso thermal spacer, pop charger and xyz merge collector with the shock wave exhaust...it sounds pretty mean... I need to get it dyno'd but my butt dyno tells me I gained some power through out the powerband...low mid and topend are all better for sure...Everybody likes the exhaust here in hawaii...you do lose the vq sound but the md sounds nice!

Unfortunatly yes.
But that doesn't necessarily mean I can't start before an actual grant.
There is a more to it than just a large increase of power. Seriously, I need to present this to OEM before it is shown anywhere else.

Ok so i know that the resonator helps with rasp. but it also quiets down the exhaust, which turns me off.
BUt the straight section seems to be alright. But how does the straight help with rasp? Does it help at all? Also, has there been any tests for whp increase with the straight section
and lastly, im thinking about switching out my nismo y pipe because of the crappy flex sections. How are the flex joints with the xyz and will it be able to accomodate all the movement from the hfc?

The straight section will sound a little different too. It rasps a lil less than the Nismo Ypipe simply because it merges sooner... and that affects the sound quality too.
I can't say about other after market cats though.
And yes, they dyno very similarly.
