Priorities at work have taken over any time that was dedicated to this project.
There is still hope, however.
I plan on going to Zdayz in May, and will be driving out with a few other Arkansas Zs. I'm going to bring a couple of heatshields for them to test on the trip.
Assuming everything works properly, I will offer them for sale after we return. Anyone interested can see them at Zdayz.
Thanks,
Tim

3 year bump? sorry to everyone for extreme gravedigging of such an old thread but this seems really interesting. Im really caught between whether or not I want to spend an extra 30 bucks on a shield that many say wont do anything.. however an upgrade like this would make that worthwhile. Whatever happened to this project, anything ever go on sale?

Whaaaaaat, thats the first time ive seen that . Ive read that cai actually reduces hp under normal driving cuz the air has to travel so far. Does this keep the hp gain of a popcharger

All this does is bring air from outside the engine compartment to the filter. I did this because I had crazy MAF correction issues that we trial and errored on the dyno to the MAF not being in the stock location when on my cai so I sold it and got the Pop Charger.
The air still goes into the filter exactly the same as without this, it is just coming from outside.
I doubt air having further to travel loses power.

Do you have a write up or could you by any chance pm me with what materials you used in your engine bay picture and how you fastened everything down? That is, if you have time, id really appreciate it

It is a hose from eBay. Initally I used a metal dryer exhaust hose but it looked pretty bad.
It is really simple. Run hose through intake hole behind bumper, the dryer hose was not attached to anything. This one came with two c shaped clamps that I attached to the aluminum bumper bar on the outside and the PopCharger heatshield on the inside.
