Whatever happened with the K&N CAI?
A while back there was much hype and speculation over a K&N CAI, but I haven't heard anything about it in quite some time. Is there any news about it?
Price may be a problem. But,I saw a NISMO cold air intake today.I like how it routes inside of the fender well on the Z.The owner said the install was simple. No removal of the front facia. Also,it is protected from the elements.Regards,Tom

No, the Nismo R-tune 350Z CAI is not warranted by Nissan. Only S-Tune parts are covered by the Nissan Parts and Accessories Limited Warranty. All of the R-tune products are considered for off-road use. This has been stated in several of the Nismo press releases over the course of the last several months (i.e. my source).
Yeah I was going to respond to that as well. Nismo has two different levels of parts, and only the S-tuned stuff is warrantied.
The service guy at my Nissan dealership just did a lot of learning on this and confirmed what aggie just posted.
I don't know if the CAI is R- or S-tuned, but that would make a difference.

Right now that includes stuff like S-Tune exhaust, supension, sways.
The Nismo headers, CAI are labeled R-Tune thus ARE NOT COVERED BY NISSAN PARTS AND ACCESSORIES LIMITED WARRANTY.

Since we sell the Nismo CAI for $269.00 I don't think the price is too bad. I feel most dealers have a better time dealing with modded out cars when Nismo parts S-Tune or R-Tune are being used. The big thing is no matter what you get, make sure you get the water diverter installed so hydro lock never becomes an issue.
I'll have to get my pic, but I seen a Z at a show over the weekend with what I thought was a K&N intake setup. Tyhpoon Intake? Can't remember the name, but it was something to that effect. Perhaps it was just a sticker that came with the filter.
Here's a small pic of the engine bay.
Here is one that is bigger.. I have the original pic (BIG) at home. I can upload it later today so you can see it much better.
Same pic a bit bigger
