Being an evo guy, we tend to go with AEM, or a K&N drop in filter. The K&N is just as good as good as the others. However, with an AEM, it has been proven that you produce greater peak boost, and hold it longer than with a K&N. But K&N is usually the way to go.
HKS filters let too much crap into the engine.

I had to go to the HKS japan website when I got mine. They don't market them in the states for the 350z.

I'm pretty sure the HKS hybrid panel filter is the same Part# as the STI. I bought mine from http://shopresponse.com/hks_super_hy...an_subaru.html
I like it compared to the blitz but honestly, there's not much difference in these. I'm going to be going with a CAI soon.

google bobistheoilguy air filtration test;
The science behind filtration is not really science but just common sense
Filtration is inversely proportional to Flow; meaning if you want good filtration you won't have good flow and vice versa,
If you want the best compromise between filtration and flow stick to OEM nissan filters -> they were engineered for a reason.
If you don't care and would rather have a dirty engine over 1-2whp bump get whatever aftermarket filter you desire.

Lol how is that sad? just because I don't go around every thread and say "Cool story bro", unlike some members with several thousand posts - I go on here for the DIY's and technical info, only contribute when I feel it enriches the thread constructively.
Your post is a good example of what the older members call "newbie flood"
A good saying is; if you have nothing good or constructive to say, don't say anything at all.
I've been a member on other forums for far longer than this one, with far less posts - cars are a big hobby of mine, and having owned multiple sports cars over the years it's only natural that I am a member of the community.

Not a bad idea to bump this thread. There are too many newbies asking for "best intake".
I had my K&N drop-ins for 11k miles in my 07 and my MAF today is as clean as it can be. Not very scientific but I hope this counts for something. Also this might be just in my head, but there is slightly more growl than the OEM filters.

bumped again
The majority of the problems that come from K&N is not how they run from the box, but after someone cleans it and OVER oils it. The come lightly and perfectly oil from K&N. BITOG UOA have shown that K&N dont filter all that with elevated levels of...i forget excatly...but the data is there
On a side NOTE...I just received AFE dry flow drop ins and installed them. Everything just seems to run a little smoother.
