one more thing, i had been hearing a sound like the exhaust tube hitting something underneath the car. got under the exhaust and it wasnt hitting the body, not even close but if you dont install it just right it will hit what looks like a metal shroud on the passenger side of the car. im not sure what is inside it, there are a few hoses that go into the shroud and its obviously there to protect them. maybe adam knows something about what it is.

looks to be part of the fuel system, its underneath the passenger side of the rear bumper just behind the rear wheel. the exhaust comes within less than a 1/4 inch of it. mine was sitting on it and everytime i shifted, the exhaust would move a little when the engine exhaled and would hit the shrould. pretty easy to fix though, slide the exhaust back a little and unscrew the 3 screws a little on the shrould and slide it away from the exhaust and tighten back down.

thats the rear EVAP canister - you can remove the shield altogether if you want, or just slightly move it out of the way

Hi ya'll, I just wanted to chime in. I received my SE exhaust from Z1 the other day and am impressed with the quality and fitment of the exhaust. As for the exhaust note, it amplifies that sweet, lazy blurping sound that our engine/exhaust makes, without the excessive drowning associated with a fullcat back exhaust. Basically, its a little deeper than our stock exhaust note at startup, and at normal cruising speeds, so you can't really tell except the blurping sound is more pronounced (which is the reason why i purchased this exhaust).

My verdict for this exhaust is that it is for people who don't want a loud exhaust or can't (in my case, my sound sensitive GF), and/or is happy with the stock exhaust performance. From a visual standpoint, it's hard to distinguish that its a aftermarket muffler other than the beautiful tips, since most of the muffler is hidden under the bumper.

Only issue with this exhaust is that it sits really close to the stock bumper (as in less than a 1mm clearance), and playing with the hangers hasn't really helped any.

P.S. I have a stock 06 350z touring, and am happy with this axle back muffler. Thanks again to Z1 for the fast shipping.

thats odd, mine sits maybe a full quarter inch away from the rear bumper

maybe make sure you havent pushed the metal rod too far into the rubber hangar
also to update on my exhaust with the TPs, seems the exhaust is starting to break in and the ECU seems to be accounting for it. power band feels good, butt dyno says ive got a little more torque and a little more HP up top, and it has gotten louder. i was almost worried at how quiet it was the first time i put it on. and the car felt a bit less powerful in the mid range. of course this can easily be accounted for the fact that it was humid and hot down here the day i put it on. now it feels better then it did before and u get the sweet noise it makes

Info on? These guys have installed it and posted pics - we're all looking at the same pictures. Doesn't look to me like it sits significantly different than any other exhaust out there

even though it sits close to the bumper, it hasn't burned it so I might just leave it as is as I like it as it is. I'll post pics if i get a chance. Although I figure if I need more clearance I'll undo the bolts and move the hangers around as j1234 had suggested.

That is fine...just curious why mrblah had a problem. If his problem isn't the norm, than I won't be worried. And at almost $600 for just an axle back, yes, I would be **** and for good reason. If I waste $600 that kills my newly painted rear bumper, I would be pissed. No fault in being cautious.

That being said, I love this exhaust and think it will look great on a LSS

it does look good on a LSS

When I said close, I meant close, but it hasn't burned my bumper so I'm happy. Again, I'm pretty sure I can get some more play if i unbolted it at the axle back and played with the hangers some more.

Wow that's beautiful! Anyone have any clips of this exhaust with stock Cats or HFCs? I'm trying to see what it sounds like w/o the test pipe amplification

I'm hearing this with my stock exhaust somewhat. I'll keep that mind mind when I'm installing this exhaust. Here's my question...how long would it take to install this axel back setup?
