Inquiry regarding intakes (Air/Fuel Ratio)

Okay, I have wondered about this even before I considered putting an intake on my car. It boils down to this, how much more air or how much less air is getting into the engine with an intake compared to stock. Observing dyno charts, I assume that the air going into the engine is similar to stock since gains are not tremendously large. IF there is a different amount of air getting into the engine, does the MAF automatically send the proper information to the ecu to balance out the fuel being spit out by the injectors? I neither want my engine to run lean or rich. I want the engine to be running at that perfect A/F ratio. Also, I have read about people installing an 02 bung to keep track of their A/F ratios. How does that work? Please enlighten me. Hopefully someone knowledgeable within this field will be able to answer my questions. Thanks.

the ECU will learn and adapt to your new air flow. I will tell you honest that it looks nice but your money is probably better spent elsewhere (unless you want looks and a snarl sound.) Looking back I would have kept it stock and popped a K&N in there (before FI of course.) The stock design is actually pretty maxed out as to air flow. There isn't much to gain there but that's my opinion and I had the Injen CAI for a long time.

Oh and the MAF and AIT are very effecient at reading the air flow and adjusting the fuel. That bung you mention is the wideband I think if that is what you are talking about it's like 800 bucks plus a tap into your manifold. A cheaper and *very* accurate other option is the S-AFCII now available with a non Japanese manual to read for install.
