Exclamation Best looking intake manifold plenum

This thing looks great! I want to know how it performs. Does anyone know anything about this intake manifold?

Looks like the top secret ... IMO, it's probably designed/tested specifically for turbo applications.

They look like a similar design concept. I like they way they look. I especially like the fact that you can still use the factory strut tower brace. IMO I think that it is important and should not be removed. I just wish I could find some numbers on these intakes. I wouldn't buy something like that just because it looks cool. I need some performance data too.

This piece was developed by Top Secret, specifically for their turbo applications.

Looks as though even from a visual stand point I can see that intake doing very well under F/I and even N20 conditions.

Reason being, look at the nearly even flow patterns. If the "t" near the top is tuned well, I would be willing to bet it's worth quite a bit in just the fact that the individual cyl airflow numbers will be very close.

It seems to have nice long smooth curves to the runners, so it should have a very nice TQ curve through the midrange, yet not suffer in the HP department.

That is a total bonus that you can save the Factory stut brace, or another for that matter.

Only thing scarry about the other intake that is modified right now. Is that it eliminates 3 of the 6 mounting bolts on the top of the plenum. As well as has major amounts of welding done to it. Welding Alum = Heat. Heat and warp things, and then good a good seal can be compromised. If that top intake doesn't seal well, it can lead to a vacuum leak, and then a rough idle or a boost leak.

Is it just me.... or does somone need to polish their timing chain cover. Since that is the first thing you see when you open the hood. Anyone done this?

That's a sweet looking setup!

Question... I realize figures may not be available for the Z yet... in applications on other cars, how much power difference is there with a plenum set up like this AND turbo VS. turbo with a stock plenum?

If there is a discernable gain, I might be willing to fork over the dough for the combination of extra hp and looks.

I agree with what you said. It looks like allot of time was spent on this intake. I hope that it isn't a one of a kind! I'll have my girlfriend write a letter to the company to see if there is any information available. I'll keep you guys updated.

EA,

If I may...

The "other" plenum uses over 15 "bolts"... the three that were removed were non-vital to proper sealing of the plenum.

As for the heat and warping... you're VERY right... the entire plenum is manufactored on a custom jig. Per EVERY single plenum that has shipped fit PERFECT. We've accounted for potential warping under extreme temperatures.

Thanks for your concern... as it was well voiced. Most importantly... rest assured the experience lays in the creators mind. The first car to run this plenum was his own... further proven it is running on several supercharged cars under a GREAT deal of boost. Zero problems.

(Newbie - first post)

So I've been reading a lot about the Crawford Plenum. What is the difference between the one in the pic and the Crawford?
