Hello

I own an 04 350z.

thanks in advance.

Are you speaking about wrapping the headers?

Nope. You can even take the heat shields off of your stock headers if you'd like.

No you don't "NEED" the heat shields; however, there are benefits the insulating the headers so it's something you should definitely consider.

When I ran crawford headers (with no heat shield), during track driving they got so hot it burned through the rubber EVAP line (lucky it wasn't the fuel line eh?). I took the headers off and went back to stock headers.

During normal street driving, I could feel the heat in the interior of the car.

My Crawford are coated and still produces an EXTREME amount of heat!

OP, keep the heat shield if you can... I couldn’t - absolutely no room... when I have time I plan to take the car to TS and see if they can somehow fabricate heat shields.

Heat wrap is popular with drag racers. Run the car 13 seconds. Return to the pits and shut it down.

Consider a daily driver with heat wrap. 1 or 2 hours on the road. The manifold will get hot and stay hot. What do you achieve?

I don't go to track nor do drags at all.
I just do daily driving.. max at about 2-3 hours a road in twice a month maybe.
all other times, it's less than 30 minutes of daily driving everyday.

in that case I would suggest not even bothering with headers much less managing the heat from them.

I've been running ceramic coated Stillen headers without heatshields on my DD, and have not had any issues.
