Default Just Had To Change the K&N off of the NISMO Cold Air Kit...what?

So in the 2 1/2 years that I've had the Z, Nissan was suppose to be cleaning the K&N on the NISMO intake because that was part of the service agreement we had with them.

Come to find out today, it has not been cleaned once inthe 2 1/2 years that it has been on there...

Obviously now it has to be replaced because there is gunk just caked on there.

Any Ideas?

buy a K&N recharge kit and do it yourself. plus for a aftermarket NISMO intake the dealer is not responsible for that at all, unless you got it in black and white where it says "service and clean NISMO intake filter".

plus if you got "gunk all caked onto it" the only person at fault is you being lazy and not checking the filter yourself. not doing it for 2 1/2 years proves that.

I would be a little easier on him. If the dealer had been saying that they were cleaning it all along then why would he check?

Because we call them stealerships for a reason.

Take this as a lesson for the future. From rotations to oil changes to spark plugs. If you dont do it yourself check on having your car worked on.

Your right I guess the only person you can fully trust is yourself!

The service department at my local dealership (Clear Lake Nissan, League City, TX) is outstanding and has NEVER let me down! Nevertheless, I always follow up with anything that I have them do just for peace of mind. Besides that, I am under the hood of my Z once a week just to check the fluid levels, wiping the dust off of everything, and generally carressing some of the parts under the hood. ALWAYS re-check anything that you have anyone do and ask them to package the old parts for you to take home...that somewhat ensures that what you ask to have done is actually done. My 2 cents.

like you can tell how dirty the filter is just by popping the hood? please, you have to get under the car and remove the bottom tray or remove the front bumper in order to see how "dirty" the filter is...on that note

I can't see my Nismo CAI filter from popping the hood. Gotta go thru the wheel well or bottom tray.
