So does the Nismo V2 intake duct help at all? Independent results inside
Was bored, and I found an old remote thermometer, so I went out to perform my own little test. Outside temp was 73 according to the Z's thermometer. Weather channel says 71. Remote thermometer said 76.
My setup is the Nismo V2 bumper with intake duct, and JWT Popcharger with heat shield. I'll be doing this test again with the stock airbox reinstalled to compare temp drops relative to outside temps, etc again.
The test was done while driving 3 miles at a constant 55 mph, then I snapped a pic of the lowest temperature displayed each time.
Here's the general intake path in case anyone doesn't know.
Mounted the thermometer piece on the plastic in front of filter.
For the first test, I plugged the intake duct with two towels.
Drove the car for a couple miles to get everything up to normal operating temperature. Let it idle for about 5 minutes. Reached up to 110f, then the temps only climbed very slowly.
Result of the first test: V2 intake duct plugged.
Result of the second test: V2 intake duct open.

I'd like to borrow a diagnostic tool that reads IAT like jiggy mentioned and do this test again with the duct open/covered and with the popcharger/stock air box.
I'll look into borrowing the tool from the local Auto Value and seeing what I can come up with in the next couple weeks.

You have the stock bumper? If you want, one of these days I could take my V2 off and see how the Nismo intake duct would/could fit with the stock bumper.
This might help a lot of people out who want the extra airflow but don't want to hack up their front bumpers.

Just went outside and swapped bumpers quick.
It's a no-go for the V2 intake duct and stock bumper. The intake duct doesn't hang quite low enough to take full advantage of it, and the stock grill needs to be trimmed. However, trimming the intake duct itself can make it work with the stock bumper no problem.
