Default Buying a used Nismo exhaust

Hi
I'm about to buy a second hand used Nismo exhaust. It is in excellent condition with the exception it has a couple of very small dents in the back of the rear silencer where the owner had gone over a speed bump. It's only visible if you were under the car looking to the rear of the car, so not visible when the car is on the road. I am seeing it in person tomorrow and have been told it is just cosmetic damage. My question is how tough are the rear back silencers and can they take a lot of abuse etc? Don't want to get it and find the "dent" starts to blow/leak a few months down the line. Can small holes be welded up easily on the back silencer?

Here's a pic of the part of the back silencer where the very small dents are (only the size of a cent)

Thanks for any help and info.

if not cracked, then they will be fine.......inside is just air chambers......nothing is broken, and in the back like that i wouldn't care....

of course you can use those as a means to negotiate, but either way its fine.

I dont buy the speed bumps claim, most likely something on the road bounced up and hit it there.....

thats the part where the oem exhaust has a fairing for wind deflection........not sure how a speed bump can do that..

Road debris will often ding the big can. Damage is cosmetic not functional.

Yeah, I don't believe that speed bump claim, its in the middle, not the bottom..

Thanks for your replies guys. I assumed it would also be road debris or a big stone that would cause something like that and was trying to work out in my head how a speed bump could cause it - although over here in the UK we have some weird shaped speed bumps - some are raised in the middle of the road but each side of the raised area is normal height and the car straddles either side of the raised area - not good if you have a low oil sump or anything else. But it does look more like road debris that would cause the ding I agree. The exhaust is 18 months old so was surprised to see it didn't need more polishing - other than the small dent or two it seems fine and in very good condition - as you say hopefully the small dents are just cosmetic. Anyway I'm off to see the seller shortly so will find out more details and will hopefully have a nice shiny nismo! Thanks for your help .

Well I have bought it . Turns out the dings are just cosmetic (less than 4mm). I think the light in the pic exggarerated the indent. Just got to fit it now! Looks like a straight forward bolt on swap. Getting the stock exhaust off will probably be the hardest part of it. Thinking about also fitting high flow cats such as Kinetix or Berk. May do that at a later date though. Singh, I think I've heard your Berks on your clips on youtube (I think it's your car and username) - very nice, and really lets it breathe!
