Default '06 350Z Cat-back Exhaust: $800~$1200

Hey I've been shopping around online for a few months and listening to videos of different exhaust notes.

I recently put on kinetix hi-flow cats and now I'm moving onto exhaust. I'm looking for a true-dual exhaust system and with a deep tone and I've come to like magnaflow true-dual. However after talking to a buddy of mine here in Houston he recommended getting a shop to do custom 2.5" from the cat-back and buy two magnaflow mufflers.

Has anyone had custom piping done ? What price range was it and if you are in Houston the name of a shop would be a great start. I'm not looking for a cheap job, I'm looking to get quality at a price that reflects it. I looked online at mufflers but I'm not exactly too petrol-headed about it and not sure exactly what dimensions I'm looking for.

Any help appreciated, thanks in advance.

honestly you can do that but hey each there own. Also every muffler has there flow/ restrictions :/. Also do you want the td or dual to single to duel exit? If so dont forget the y-pipe like i did lol.

Custom exhaust is a popular subject. Potential problems:

You have no idea what it sounds like until after it is paid for. You cannot listen to a Z with the same exhaust.

Major name exhausts (Injen for example) are tested for quality and performance. Quality and performance have been verified by members.

the x-pipe, y-pipe, etc. setup that you go with is key to the sound. like davidv said, a major drawback to what you're considering is that you will not be able to hear it beforehand, and there are definitely proven and quality exhausts out there to meet your needs. read up on the forums here and search until you find your answers. hopefully you dont end up sounding too raspy. I personally have a stillen true dual with stillen HFC/Headers and i love the sound, performance.

I made a video compilation a while ago after I installed my Stillen HFCs to go with my Stillen True Dual exhaust. The video goes through the modding process - stock, exhaust, hfcs - with sound samples for each stage along the way. (I also have an 06)

I personally love the sound, and Stillen makes some great products. I hate to sound like a fanboy, but I was just on their site earlier today, and they're advertising a sale right now where you get a free Stillen intake if you purchase one of their catback exhausts.
