which y pipe for more gains?
currently have the nismo exhaust. which includes the nismo ypipe.
i have them paired up with FI res test pipes.
was wondering if a stock HR ypipe would give me more gains or be the same.
FOR sure i dont want to looses any power.
just seeing if the HR ypipe is an option for replacing my nismo ypipe.
thanks!
ohh dunno if this matters but my car is a DE motor. so i think the nismo ypipe is DE style ypipe? no idea if the nismo ypipe is same style as stock oem ypipe on DE

I think the motordyne y-pipe is the only proven one by members here. Others we only go by the dyno graph given by the manufacturer.
I have the OEM HR y-pipe in my DE and as terrasmak said the car did feel smoother and peppier, got it locally for $60 installed so for the money you can't beat that!
I think Motordyne should do a y-pipe shoot out! lol (just like the plenum spacer) plus its easier to swap y-pipe~

The HR y-pipe has been dynoed to show a 5-6whp/wtq gain. I've never seen a dyno for the Nismo pipe, but I have seen people post up that they felt a loss of low rpm power with the Nismo pipe. The affect of the HR y-pipe is completely different. The motor definitely feels meatier in the 1500-4500rpm range. Sounds better too.

i think the whole nismo exhaust give you 6 hp to the wheels.
deng maybe i should change. i have been wanted to change cause the notorious test pipe cracking the nismo y pipe causes.
good stuff

Loose = the opposite of tight
Lose = the opposite of gain, find, or win
/grammar ****
Sorry. I have to make that correction, or my head will explode.

Kuhan since you have both y-pipes, why dont you go out and measure inlet and outlet diameters? I'd imagine any loss of power would be from bottle-necking exhaust flow from manifolds > cats > y-pipe > mid-pipe and so on.
And to OP... DON'T DO IT!!!1
I'm already having enough trouble finding an HR y-pipe. Don't need more people to compete against in the marketplace
