Question light weight exhaust survey

I'm curious what the interest level would be for an aftermarket low weight exhaust system that has the same function as the better replacement systems for reduced back pressure, enhanced low frequency sound and longevity. We're developing a new technology that should enable us to reduce the weight of traditional exhaust systems by 50 to 75%.

Thanks in advance for your input.

sound i think would be an important factor ... i want something that sounds like stock.

depending on cost/weight/sound/appearance ... i would be very interested

right now im looking at the vielside tear drop exhaust ... but its very very expensive

Well, a power increase would definitely help the cause.

If you can keep the price down then it would be a nice option.

True. Ti should be roughly half the weight of a steel system from the cats back assuming a simple material change. But I'm working on an idea that should be significantly less weight but hopefully comparable cost and sound quality. Trying to get some samples made and installed on my Z to test in the next few weeks.

more later

Well, dude, there is not an exhaust on the market that is Ti and can support a turbo. Sure you can custom something, but there is not a kit out there. Might be a market worth looking into, being able to support a turbo setup with a dual look having the diameters you need for a turbo.

Borla DUal catback is 12 lbs lighter than the OEM exhaust and sounds insane....also can be found for 699 online and installation can be done in a few hours by yourself, nuts and bolts only no welding....

Not sure why the Ti folks haven't offered larger diameters. Probably see it as a fringe market and they would have to tool up for the larger diameters and attaching hardware. Ti can also be expensive as raw material.

Our concept will work in any diameter.

I thought Greddy is coming out Full Titanium Exhaust with 80mm single pipe, single outlet.

Well, dude, there is not an exhaust on the market that is Ti and can support a turbo.
I would think Greddy Racing can support turbo, since they develop and sell turbo kit.
