Default Nismo Header Problems

I know that there has been a fair amount written about the Nismo headers rubbing the steering column/shaft.

My dearler has had to indent the weld that is rubbing the shaft; however, I am still getting a vibration on hard right-hand turns. I've heard this same thing from many (seems like almost everyone is having this problem).

Has anyone gone directly to Nissan or their local dealer to have them recalled or replaced?

Also, how far can I indent the headers before I start losing performance and jeopardize the integrity of the weld?

Help!!!!

I thought this was only a problem on a few of the first run headers?

From what I understand..... the latest headers being shipped have corrected the problem.

Can anyone post a pic that shows the exact pipe and point that is the point in contention. I'd rather bend them a bit, before I take them in for a install 110 miles away. Rather than having to drive all the way back to correct the problem.

i just got mine back...i ended up making a hole where the weld hit...my techs were trying to heat it up to bend them in....

they brought it to the best welder in boston and he actually cut that piece out and welded a flat ss peice to replace the hole....it was a very good weld...wish i took some pics(sorry guys)...but it clears every thing..even hard rights...so i am happy....

I'm sure Jeff at performance can help you out JT...

and this comming from a product designed explicitly for the Z by Nissans race division...I think the gains are minimal for all the effort and $$$$

B&B may make them but NISMO got their pricetag on them and for over $1000 I would expect better fitment and gains...

I have the same problem with my Nismo headers. I wonder if this is covered under any kind of warranty from Nismo? Shouldn't this be a defect?

If you paid by credit card, dispute the charge say its defective and a serious safety issue..I.E. rubbing the steering column is a friggin problem!!!!

I took my Nismo headers to an installer today in MD and they had the same exact problem with the one header rubbing against the steering shaft. This is rediculous given the price of these headers and what i expected from them. Very dissapointed that Nismo did not catch this one. I believe enough people are experiencing this same problem to warrant a recall.

Default Nismo Headers

Doug @ Crawfords fixed mine in about 5 minutes ( over 5 months ago ) with a crow bar & torch ( while on rack )!! My engine is out ( completely disassembled ) so I'll run by and take a photo of the small area that needs modification if it would help someone! PM me if you need !

The point is that it shouldnt NEED to be fixed..They should fit..Period...I think everyone with NISMO headers should contact NISMO and demand a recall for obvious safety issues...Last time I checked I dont think "denting" a brand new set of headers to fit was part of the installation process...send em' back...Dont get suckered by Nismo's BS..

Default Nismo Headers

I agree they should have been correct from the beginning! Six months ago or more when I went thru this ordeal, Nismo would not admit to a problem!! After 6 hours of installation time a person will do about anything to make them work other than taking them back off!

I agree with Daking350. Anyone with this problem needs to reply to this post. I would like to get an idea of how many out there are having this problem and use it as pursuasion against Nismo.

Please reply!!!!

We should all get a new driver side header (at least) from NIsmo.
