Default Y Pipe Issue

Hey guys, I just got an 07 Base 3 weeks ago. It came with the X02 Catback and only the stock midpipe and muffler were included.

I want to go to stock exhaust and I can't find any 07-08 HR Y pipes, I'm looking for a cheap solution, would the 03-06 Y pipes work? I keep hearing how they suck and how the HR is a big upgrade in the low end torque, but what do I do to put the stock cbe on? Would the best option for me be to get a Megan Racing for like $160-170 and call it a day?

That's $400+ Ouch. I definitely wouldn't want to spend that for a Y-Pipe. I'd rather wait to find a used Nismo S-tune and use that Ypipe/Mid/Muffler instead.

My friend has an extra Turbo XS Y pipe, would that work fine?

I would also go with a motordyne XYZ pipe. sure, it will cost you a little bit more, but the quality and performance will be worth it.

nismo y pipes have some issues of their own .. : P

you can use any y pipe you want. you asked for opinions, and my opinion is you shouldn't go cheap and get some crappy megan racing or turbo xs product.

I respect your opinion sir, but can you explain why they are "crappy"? Aren't they similar to the stock HR Y Pipe, I'm not really looking for the most power, I just want to fit my stock cbe back on the car. You think using a free Turbo XS for stock exhaust for a few months is worse than getting a $500 Motordyne?

Nismo y pipes are prone to cracking cats and test pipes.. something about the way they were designed, just fyi while you hunt for one.

if your goal is nothing but going back to stock, then sure, megan/turbo xs is fine (especially if it's free). I'd rather get as much performance as I can out of that part and something designed to last.
