if these headers were say ummm 500-800$ and had peak numbers of 15+ hp and then paired up with like a ART tp and worked well with it......... THAT WOULD B WORTH IT. but again those fast intentions are 1200 LTHs and worth it. Shorties that cost more.... ehhhhh

Are you planning on making HR shorty headers?

Hey, why aren't long tube headers more popular for our platform?

Most people still want a cat in the system. Only the hardcore go test pipe/long tube.

Yeah, from those members that post.... There's a lot of members that just watch from the sidelines. Also note for those of us in CA, it's gotta pass a visual test as well as the stricter sniffer. While test pipes will pass a sniffer in some states and even a strict sniffer in CA (maybe), there's no way you'll get them by a visual test. Man... its tough getting a spun cat past a visual test. Otherwise, I would imagine the long tube would be all over the market... Makes more power, probably easier to manufacter than the two separate units and you have less compromises. But that's me just guessing.

Man this is so interesting. I bet there are other factors that apply (such as high manufacturing costs), but it is just strange that they are almost non-existent for the 350Z. I had an RSX before the Z and 'race-headers' or 'long-tube headers' were definitely the craze. Seemed like everyone was getting them. I went ahead and emailed Motordyne to see if they have a good answer.

EDIT: Here is what Motordyne/Hydrazine has to say:

In my experience headers don't really do much on our engine and they aren't really worth the cost.

those may actually be my headers in the pics. i will not be getting a before and after dyno--because i am not installing them on my stock engine. i will most likely get a dyno of my new setup, but it will not really have much relevance to most people.

fwiw, the primaries/collectors are much larger than any off the shelf design there is. tube length doesn't tell the whole story.

there is a lot to be said for the versatility of shorties. the main reason i went with these is that i want to add the sfr single turbo kit once my new engine is broke in and running right. if i run out of money, i still have the option of using some off the shelf hfc's or my current test pipes.

the burns collectors easily live up to the hype, and tim's welds are robotic

thanks again tim. i can't wait to see the y-pipe

Design wise, good job.
Marketing and ROI wise, fail.

Long Tube Headers...PLEASE!

I appreciate you coming up with a new Headers for the G/Z community but you need to convince us, especially at that price. Just take a look at tomei's website they do a good job at that.
