I have friends that work for magnaflow, and testfitted it on a buddies car... It almost sounds like a cross between the borla and the nismo..

they're pretty cheap

I know that on Hondas, magnaflows sound really goo,d it lets more of the engine sound and the vtec sound come through instead of a low ricey muffler sound...what about the 350z? same?

Have it on my Z. Sounds fairly tame untile you get on it. Then it says..."Don't mess with me". The car sounds like it's rattleing apart when it's cold due to the fact that you hear more of the engine noise. Smooths out when it warms up. Adds under 10hP. Sounds great when you rev it. Alittle louder all the time compared to stock. Nothing anoying.

The magnaflow can be had for under $500, and it put's out the same numbers as the NISMO. I'm surprised it's not a more popular exhaust. I'd love to hear a sound clip.

Default Magnaflow

The guys at XX Tuning were very positive about the Magnaflow. They recommened it highly when I was deciding on an exhaust.

I opted for the Borla since I had heard it in person on a roadster and I really like it's construction, but I did consider the magnaflow.

I think BullishZ is getting the Magnaflow Titanium single exhaust put on.

That is correct. I believe this thread is talking about the stainless steel dual outlet exhaust.

I'll be getting the titanium catback single exhaust. Kinda like the HKS system.

Installed a new y-pipe, straight pipe and Magnaflow muffler during the summer. (Stainless-single inlet; dual outlet) It was very loud and had a lot of 'blat'. I soon grew tired of everyone looking as I drove by, so also installed the Magnaflow pre-silencer. Now it sounds great-low frequency without the blat. Actually has gotten somewhat louder over time.

Dyno'd when first installed and gained app. 15 bhp. We re-dyno'd two weeks later and hp was back where it started. I'm still very satisfied with the sound. Also much lighter.
