Default deciding on intake systems for 05!!!

Sup eveyone new z owner here and first real post.im having a hard time deciding on intakes. I know bigger is better, heat shield keeps hot air out,and if going in fender bypass valve is a good idea. But what about stuff like is a longer intake tube or bypass valve gonna rob performance, can one be too big, where can i get an affordable heat shield/box,is a cold air advised for n/a motors or short ram(and is the MAF gonna be straight). Any suggestions and im one of those who tries to find the most affordable but also best in reliability and performance.help!

Popcharger , and the Samco hose to make it look pretty. Doubt the hose helps, but it looks cool.

Welcome.

You will see several types of intakes:

a. Replacement OEM filter. Washable is good. Lasts forever. Easy to clean.

b. Short intake. Filter under hood on the end of a tube. Easy to clean.

c. Long intake. Generally filter is behind front bumper. Pain in the *** to clean.

d. Hybrid cold air - short tube. K&N Typhoon for example. Filter in engine bay for easy access. Fresh air from behind grill.

The Pop Charger has been a proven winner for 7 years because of its simplicity. Simple is good.

simple - just depends on what your end goals are

you are not going to get dramatic power/response/temperature changes with an intake on this car. The stock setup is quite efficient

a stock 06 airbox, your choice of filter and be done with it, is a nice simple setup, looks stock, works great

of all the mods you do, the intake system you choose, on this car is the least important, and of the least consequence

Cold airs work well for track oriented cars that end up generating alot of engine heat soak. Short rams, whether they have a heat shield or not, don't work as efficiently, but are cheaper and easier to service as mentioned

Some intakes look cooler than others...all depends on what you're buying the intake for

The Samco hose is a nice piece to dress things up

That funny, my JWT runs 8 degrees over the listed ambient temp (on my display) when on the racetrack. So much for HeatSoak.

Standard popcharger with standard heat shield , nothing changed from how JWT send mails it out.

I'd have to see logs to honestly believe that...and I sell popchargers fwiw, so it's not like I have something to gain by saying what I said.

as long as you're not changing where the MAF is located, I can't think of how response would be affected
