Default Aftermarket Cats

Ok...so I need all the feedback I can get.

If I install aftermarket cats (OEM or Highflow)...will my CEL turn on after a short while. This is what the dealership...Meineke and Midas are telling me?

It is a 2005 350Z.

with a good HFC from a good company, it should not throw a SES light. If it does you can add sparkplugs non-foulers or have a shop add an extension bung for the o2 sensor

PM me and i can direct you to HFC that will no throw a SES light

There is a 7 year history of high flow catalytic converter feedback here. Read all about it. Make an informed decision.

Well an O2 sensor sends an oscillating voltage (around 5volts I think but don't quote me on that), so you could easily make a faker (provided you know your basic circuitry). I know supra guys do it when they run the Map Ecu. I'm positive there's a write up on it somewhere. Now whether or not it's a good idea to fake your O2 sensors is a different story all together.... I'm fairly sure your ecu would never adjust the tune if you had constant O2 voltages, and provided they are in a good range, after a light tune you shouldn't see any serious drawbacks. That way you wouldn't throw CELs and you could use any old test pipe. But its better to get some quality parts, bolton exhausts that aren't well made are prone to terrible PITA fittings and especially with a test pipe cracking (high temp).

Post cat O2 just tells the ECU that the Cats are working, and won't affect the tune.
