hey!
i finally picked up a used 3" custom exhaust and installed it. The piping is steel and welds are crap with no brand Canister. However this is loud as f$$k! and drones like f$$k! my left ear is hurting after 40min freeway driving.
The tip seems to be around 4.2".
Check out the photos and vid. It doesn't sound that loud in vid, but it's goddamn loud between 1k~2.5k rpm. My car is 05 but i installed HR y-pipe.
How much would a resonator between the tip end and y- pipe get rid of the drone? i like the deep tone, loudness (if it were little quieter, i'd be happy), but too much drone. The droning gets quieter at 3K RPM cruise on freeway. But still loud enough to hurt my ear lol

EDIT: i forgot to take a vid of the exhaust installed lol. Only took a vid without the y-pipe back exhaust.

 

Install a resonater, but it will still be loud. My shockwave V1 is ear piercing at full song. Ask anyone who has heard it at the track.

i went over couple of threads and people were recommending vibrant resonator.
Bottle Style Resonator, 3" inlet/outlet x 12" long
Bottle Style Resonator, 3" inlet/outlet x 18" long
Large Diameter Bottle Style Resonator, 3" inlet/outlet x 18" long
Most of them were getting 18" because longer resonators clears up the sound and dampens the sound. what y'all think?
I paid $140 for the exhausut and gotta pay $90 for resonator?...

If u really wanna cleap up the sound/rasp I would go this route. Same res AAM used on all their exhaust.

for me, there's not much of sound/rasp to clean up. No rasp at all, i think.
Just gotta get rid of the drone and little bit of loudness

 

well my AAM single didn't really drone. However my current AP does

 

try the silencer if it fits correctly then it will reduce the sound a ton

 

the seller gave me a silence but i don't see a way to put it through. Its a very very tight fit. i might not b able to get it out once it's in lol

Have an 18" resonator installed and use the silencer that came with it, that should help a lot but it wont sound too good IMO.

 

I would throw the 18 inch resonater in, its still going to be loud.

 

I went driving today and hell it's loud. getting annoyed because i like to go WOT sometimes but if i do, **** ppl can hear from miles away.

Looks like Large diameter bottle helps quiet down the sound and drone more.

 

i got the silencer from the seller.
The diameter of the silencer is little too big for the size of the tip.

 

aam is pretty much all vibrant parts. Very will built exhaust. I love mine

 

i did some search ultra quiet. People were saying it quiets down the sound a lot on different cars.
I don't want to kill to much sound.

I just placed an order for Large Diameter Bottle Style Resonator, 3" inlet/outlet x 18" long
This doesn't seem to have big difference in the size of the resonator than the Ultra Quiet one.

 

Finally got my vibrant resonator
It's heavier than i expected though.

The inside of the resonator is super greasy with black stuff. Should i try to clean it off?
