Default Any Bassani Exhaust installing tips?

I purchased a Bassani Exhaust system from LMPerformance for my 06 Z. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for installing it. Was it an easy install? Do I have to remove some evac shield to accomodate? And yes I will attempt to install it myself first.

its a straight up install, put the Xpipe in before you do anything, then just work your way front to back.. when you get to the pipe that crosses over the rear bar, make sure you twist it so the bend in the pipe is straight up to avoid any rubbing.

they have a video of this exhaust instal on youtube.

make sure you get jack stands and a floor jack. Shouldnt be too hard. Also, spray some lubricant on the bolts/hangers to take them out with ease. I forget the name, but I used a yellow cap lubricant from lowes and its amazing.

I was just answering the "yellow cap" that was in question. I use that to break free bolts, and when it comes to the rubber hangers, top secret tip--- USE A HAIR DRYER to heat up the hangers just a bit to make them more workable! Heat gun would work too, but there's a real chance for meltage there!

Thanks to everyone who replied! This would be the first mod I do to the Z! I was worried about that rear bar being in the way and thanks again for the help! also wondering, i heard these exhaust have a problem with the clamps going loose and the exhaust would rattle. I heard of people welding it to keep it closed but wont that pose problems if i were to remove the exhaust?

^^What the other guy said, pb blaster on the bolts/hangar. If you don't trust me, well too bad. I installed my suspension and exhaust using that, and works perfectly.

My bassani clamps have never come loose, just get them tight at initial install, perhaps some blue loctite?

Hmm I never thought of blue loctite... If it rattles I'll consider that option before I have to weld things...

Default In addition...

I purchased and installed the 350Z5 Bassani exhaust on a 2006 350Z GT (Sept 2011).

Before installing I ran across this thread and following my install experience I am adding to it.

Tips:
 1. Removal of the old system is straight forward. As said in previous posts, penetrating lube works wonders - be sure to apply and let sit to allow it to work. The old hangers are a pain so lube them up good! Heat (as mentioned previously blow dryer/heat gun) also works great on the rubber hangers.
2. The first thing to do before starting the install is to place the right side resonator pipe (one w/o hanger) over the transmission tunnel stiffener AND the rear sway bar. The left side can wait until after the "X" pipe goes in.
3. When installing the "X" pipe, you will more than likely need to use a bar to persuade the mating flanges on converter outlet pipes to match up with the "X" pipe inlets. Make sure to loosen the bolts that fasten catalytic converters to the stiffener bracket that is attached to transmission bell housing (install guide step 6).
4. The install guide instructs you to install the muffler assembly (install guide step 14) before installing the right side tailpipe/tip (also install guide step 14, probably a typo). If you do so, you will NEVER get the hanger rod on the right side tailpipe/tip into the proper hanger! PUT THE RIGHT SIDE TAILPIPE/TIP INTO THE HANGER BEFORE LIFTING THE MUFFLER ASSEMBLY INTO PLACE. When installing the muffler assembly, have someone (or something) hold the right side tailpipe/tip up. Then, once the muffler assembly is loosely place (all pipes inserted loosely, clamps in proper spots loosely, and hanger rods in hangers) pull the whole assembly to the left and insert the right side tailpipe/tip over the proper muffler outlet. This will be a b***h, but it's better than following the install guide here.

PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench is the ish! Trust me the hardest thing you will face after breaking the almost-welded-on bolts is the hangers. It looks like its impossible but with enough lube you can squeeze it thru (all puns intended).

And before you put bolts in, align the whole exhaust and make sure it line up correctly. Then when you put bolts in place just hand tight them all and then going back and wrenching them tight. I put anti-seize on the bolts for mine to make the removal easier the next time around. But thats because I am a certified exhaust *****.
