Hi Flow Cats - Who is the best?
Looking to install a set and want the best hp results combined with the quietest system. I do not need it loud.
Please offer opinions, suggestions and even facts for that matter
I WANT MORE N/A HP.
Thanks.

RT High Flow Cats $500
Have seen them add as much as 7 RWHP on a stock Z... Have seen them add an additional up to 14RWHP on a Z w/ aftermarket exhaust / headers.
On my personal car I gained 8HP all across the RPM range.
They make the car slightly louder, but are not raspy

I was suprised not to have any drone with my RT Cat Pipes. I was expecting it and willing to live with it because the cats are a huge bottle neck but I was pleasantly suprised; no drone no rasp.

I wouldn't say they are quiter, actually they are louder than stock but it is a low rumble not a loud snarl.
Having done cat mods b4 I was expecting drone.
Drone is when you are not WOT and not idle almost always around 2500 rpm's. It's like a droning vibrance that can actually rattle your interior if your car has enough horse power. I would define it as a sound WAVE. You can actually feel the wave of drone. In my FBOD the drone from no cats shook my rear view mirror. The resonator removes the drone. I don't have a resonator so was expecting this drone. I can't decribe it it's a momemntary thing when you are at 2500 rpm's that just sounds off pitch. I don't have that. As for raspy normally with hi flows when you go WOT or punch it all the exhaust leaving can make a rattling type sound because there isn't allot of ceramic to absorb the sound. I don't have raspy either. Just a low rumble. But the Borla is quiet and low already. Just figure that it will amplify your current exhaust whatever that may be, and you will have a good idea of how it will sound. I started with a very low rumble, now I have a noticable low rumble.

I just had the RT cats installed yesterday at Performance Nissan.....I love the sound now that the cats are coupled with my Borla.
If you are in or near Southern California, Perfomance Nissan is the place to buy the RT's and have them installed. If you are ordering the RT's, again Performance is the place to get them. They have a really good price for members of this board. I am more than happy with my Performance Nissan experience and will be getting my Z serviced there from now on.

Test pipes are just a pipe that extends to the manifold straight through w/o any cats. You gain one HP but add in stinky feet smell like a rat died in your engine and a rasp and drone and it appears that you are in California so you can get a 5k fine for not running cats. If that isn't enough to sway you I got a CARB certificate with mine, Jim Jones didn't because he killed all those people.
