Angry smh.. dyno jet

So i've learned the 5/8th spacer is a piece of crap. -__-
And with all these modifications
Helix HFC
Blox 5/8th
Light Fly wheel/Stage 1 clutch
test pipes
short ram intake

i'll post a pic of the dyno soon

my car pushed 230-240 first 2 runs then 255 whp last. but with a crazy A/F ratio 14-17 around 1-3k rpm
then it would go normal at WOT but still up and down

but since then i've
thrown my stock airbox back on wit the k&n drop in
Helix high flowcats
True dual 2.5" to a flowmaster 50 muffler
2 degree advance timing

assuming putting all that pressure back on the car should help it run more normal A/f ratios

now to prove the 5/8th sucks. my buddy has a roadster 05 350 auto with the 5/16th. Literally keeps up with me until i get into high 3rd to slowly walk. but with all these mods i would think my Z should walk him alot faster? And it's 6 speed. All my shifts are fine

Get a ECU re-flash! That will help a little....

were you just putting on a dyno? or TUNING it, the only way you'll get the full capability out of any modification is to re-tune the ECU. You can throw bolt-on's all day.....but with modern cars you don't get a tune.....you're just wasting your money.

All those mods and no tune? That's your problem. When you allow air to enter and exit the engine easier, you need more fuel.

I'm completely baffled about how you're blaming the plenum spacer.

Lol, like the others said - you need a tune. Bad. Also get an exhaust before the tune.

Yep need the tune to get the most out of those mods.

I'm thinking that Short Ram may be causing some issues with the MAF and f-ing up those air fuel ratios. it would be interesting to see what you dyno now with stock airbox box back in place. I wouldn't be totally surprised if you got a little more consistent air fuel numbers and possible higher dyno numbers.

what do you guys think?

+1 to everyone else's comments.

Breather bolt ons alone will only give you a change in sound, not performance - until you get a tune so the car knows how to properly take advantage of any possible room for gains. Also, with breather mods, you're only as good as your most restrictive component. So if you're changing the things that aren't the bottleneck, it's not going to make much of a difference.

i just got rid of my 5/8th spacer, after i get the 5/16th. Going to save for a month and get a reflash. They had a special over in my area for 300$ but that was over a whilee ago.

And i'm thinking about getting pulleys even though after reading mixed comments over it.

I'll sell you a Stillen underdrive pulley and belts if you are interested. Brand new and I've never mounted it. Now that I'm going with nitrous, I'm probably just going to stick with stock pulleys. I've done a lot of modding to my car and all of it was fun whether it gave me a performance increase at the time or not. The best advice that I can give you is to read up using search a lot before you spend your money if you're actually looking to not waste it. However, if you just want to spend a little money and have some fun working on your car, that's fine too - just realize that it's for fun and not always for any real gains.

I hope that makes sense? Anyways, good luck kicking the modding bug once it has ahold of you.
