Yes, I use them. IMO, better that Pure One. K&N is a premium filter, and I recommend them highly. I use model HP1006, the recommended filter for our application is HP1008. HP1006 is a little longer, and a K&N tech said the pressure rating was the same and it would work in our application. The K&N is nice to work with because it has a welded in nut on the end. I paid $8.97 Mail order, so your $9.00 is a good deal. My opinion is go for it.

Yep, I use the 1008, although I'll probably switch to the 1006 next time.

Well, the K&N and pure-one are totally different types of filters. Comparing the two are comparing apples to oranges. Pure-ones are among the best filters on the market in filtering ability, as far as removal of particles from the oil. K&Ns are among the best on the market in unrestricted oil flow. They are on different sides of the equation, I currently run a Napa Gold that is in the middle of those two, although I will be trying the K&N cause flow is always good in performance cars.

Restrictive filters, IMO, are not as good for performance cars, unless you don't run your car hard. Give me a pure one on an Accord.

I've never heard of differences in oil flow between oil filters. I guess it makes sense, but K&N advertises 10-20 micron filtering (that's pretty small). Where did you get your information?

Well, it is a topic that interests me a little since I have my degree in chemical engineering. Here is a great site to find out more about it, especially since I am too lazy to type about it right now, lol:

I went to the site you posted, and found only air filter tests, which say what you posted above. I did not see any oil filter tests however.

BTW, what did Salma say?

Lou, there is a big list of different areas on that site to go to under forums. They talk about everything, and they do have an area for oil filters, along with oil and just about everything to do with it.

As for Salma, still working on it, stalking is next.....lol
