I need some advice...
Before I get into it, here is some info on my car.
Year: 2008
Model: 350z
Trim: Grand Touring
Transmission: Automatic (Automanual)
Aftermarket Modifications: AEM Cold Air Intakes; Berk High-Flow Cats.
Alright, so I recently added the Berk HFC's (check out the install in this thread: https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exha...e-install.html) to my setup and am really not liking them due to the rasp/rattle at 2.5-3.5k RPM (My car literally sounds like a dirt bike now...). I do however love the muscly/mean sound the CAI makes whenever I stomp the gas. Anyways, I figured it's about time to get an aftermarket exhaust so I've been doing a lot of research on the subject.
From that research I can conclude that I want a true dual setup. Now, the key factor is choosing the best price/manufacturer for my needs. By far my favorite exhaust I've seen has been the Motordyne TDX2 but at a $1600 price tag before shipping and install that would mean putting off getting the exhaust for a several more months in order to save up. From my research I can also conclude I do not want a "Fart Cannon", "Ricer", and/or "Dirt bike" sound, but from a lot of reviews and comments on YouTube videos I've determined that it is nearly impossible to hear the real sound of the exhaust over a video. This makes it difficult to make a decision on my end, so now I'm turning to you guys for y'alls opinions.
As far as cheap exhaust, hands down it'd have to be the Godspeed or Topspeed TD HKS replica for ~ $400-500. I've seen mixed reviews on this since it has been labeled an eBay exhaust and people have had problems with fitment, rusting and drone. On the other hand, I've seen a lot of people saying it's the best bang for the buck and all that.
I also like Borla, AAM, Invidia, Bassani, and magnaflow. (Sorry, I'm writing this really late and have work tomorrow so I'll go into more detail tomorrow).
I realize in the FAQ it says "You would never buy an exhaust just based on how someone on the INTERNET tells you it sounds but in fact I would and am. I mean from what I can tell videos don't do any of the exhausts justice. I am never around anybody to compare exhausts in person. From what I've read since I have an Auto it won't be as loud as a MT. IDK, you guys go to more meets than I do and hear all the different sounds so I'd like y'alls input so I can use it as a guideline. Here is what I'm wanting:
A True Dual exhaust that doesn't sound ricer/fart can (in fact I'd prefer a muscle/growl or exotic sound) that will fit on an HR 350z and will not require anything to be done to the bumper. I do not care at all about HP gains but preferably no HP losses. Also none of that blue crap on the exhaust tips. Price range: none, will narrow it down if there are replies.

+1 on using an ebay hks clone along w the magnaflow resd x.
Youre on ur own for the tips then. Total costs involved w X pipe cut and adjustments for fit maybe 750.
ur not going to find any exhaust w a low grumble. Cmon, the cars a v6.
and its not an exotic.. theres no short tubular exhaust behind a mid or rear super hi revving multi cyl enigne.....
the most exotic sounding note for the 350z is a stock car w stock exhaust.
Youre also not going to "find power" in an exhaust. yes you may lose power.
You should really search the classifieds and buy a cobb ap if youre going to get anything, especially after an exhaust. That puts an end to the power issues.
50 posts.. so you still have alot more threads to read my man.
Good job on apparently reading some already tho.. its certainly not a bad post.. but your answers are all out there already brotha.

no adjustments were made just was a pita to do on stands.
dont go cobb get uprev better bang for your buck and still support nissan
This is probably one of the most confusing situations I've ever seen... though I admit I'm seeing them more often lately. "I want the DEEP, RUMBLING TONE" but I don't want to spend much money.
But I'll spend money on mods that I can read in precisely 1 million threads on every existing 350z forum make nearly ALL exhausts sound raspy in a range that I spend at LEAST 1/100th of my time driving in.
Funny... because these same people don't care for the performance boost. But use performance enhancing mods to achieve their audible bliss.
So then why go HFC anyway? Why get a new exhaust?
Want the best bang for your buck exhaust? Pull the Berks off... put the stocks back on. Sell the Berks in the marketplace for 250. Enjoy a quick sale.
Walk away.
You basically want an exhaust that sounds stock... so USE the STOCK exhaust. You know, the one you paid for Nissan to design and accommodate the specifics of the engine that you ALSO bought? Pretty sure they spent a substantial sum on it.
Don't get a crappy replica off ebay that some other dude (who bought a crappy replica) says is the best money he ever spent. Best bang for his buck... compared to what? The car he bought to rip apart and deck out with cheap crap?
Sorry... Early morning rant over.

My advice is just save up for the Motordyne TDX. You love it already and you'll love it even more when you own it. There's no good reason to settle now for something you may regret, when you can have what you really want in just a few months.
