Default DC Sports Headers

Hey guys, I have a buddy of mine that has a 350z that he recently totaled. He is fine but the car is completely gone. He had just ordered and got in about a month ago a set of DC Sports Headers that he was waiting until spring to put on. Now that he doesnt need it and he cant return it they are just sitting there. He offered them to me for $400. Now I am just unsure as to wether or not I will run into issues with putting these on, or if they would even be worth my time. I have a 2007 enthusiest if it makes a difference. I have never gone through and actually done any type of motor work to any previous cars so any insite would be great.

Thanks
Kevin

Your answers should be in there. Everyone is about to tell you that before you create new threads asking these questions that you ought to search for the answers in the threads on these forums. They're about to tell you that because it's true. The question about headers is a very old one on these forums, and whether or not you should bother with them depends on a lot of variables. Please read up... and grab a flame suit while you're at it, because I can feel it getting hotter in here already.

With no past car experience, headers will take you 12+ hours.

Don't waste your time.

I went through the headers experience... Never again will I do it. Steering rack + driver side header became a problem.. Then had to heat the stainless steel and bend it a tad.. But I don't have DC Sports headers and I've only heard good things about them. So i'd say go for it if you think you can do the job. It won't be easy though.

If you've never done much of anything like this before I'd have to say that installing headers would be the worst possible idea of all things you could do with your car. Horrible job at the best of times.

The question

Are headers worth it?

is as old as this forum. Read and study here. Make an informed decision.

Kevin, what year was your friends Z?

If it's a 2007 you can run them but if it's an 03-06 you will need to add 03-06 cats as well. You can reference this thread for info:

Forget it...This is not like working on a old British straight 4 engine that you can remove a few bolts, slap on a gasket, put the bolts back in and drive off.
No "previous experience" on any motor work?
It will be a nightmare.
Just check on what good tuner will charge to install those
headers. Its quite a big piece of change.
If you decide to go foward with the headers, hire a pro.
But in the long run,the price that you are gonna pay
is just not gonna add up to the results.

ill comment on;y are the headers worth it. Bobby and Ben at CIN love DC headers. said out of their experience on the dyno with tuning they always get the most with these headers esp on a rev up

Im going to add this because no one else said anything.

If your buddy Z is a 03-06, headers and test pipes from those models won't fit a 07-08 at all. 03-06 have the DE engine and the 07-08 have the HR.
