DC Sports exhaust with Vibrant resonators installed!
I just got my DC Sports catback exhaust installed about a week ago. It's a dual 2.5" solution which you can find really cheap right now because it has notorious problems with rasp. I decided to pull the trigger on this system anyway with the intention of adding resonators to it later. Here's the system unboxing (also with CNT HFCs):
The first thing I noticed was the quality. The thing is gorgeous, and well made. Next step was to get it installed...
That was easy! But how the crap does it sound?

OMFGLOUD! Truth be told the rasp is way worse in the cabin. Resonators should fix this... enter Vibrant model 1792 12" stainless steel resonators. I had a coupon for Streetsideauto.com and got a pair for $64 shipped to my door. I was a little hesitant on the quality, but once I saw them in person those fears disappeared.
That'll work, but where will it fit? Most aftermarket systems have their resonators before or at the merge point, but that isn't possible with this system. How about just behind the x-pipe on either mid pipe...
Aaaand welded in. The fitment on the passenger side is tight, but it there is adequate clearance on both sides.
Now, the end result...

Silky smooth sexiness. Oh yes. The resonators really mellowed the tone and virtually eliminated the rasp. What little rasp is left is really more of a pleasing growl, which I think sounds great. Drone has also decreased, and I'm guessing it's because of the resonators placement aft of the x-pipe. I was also surprised by how much the resonators quieted this system down. It's still louder than stock, but I am no longer worried about the fuzz. It's perfect. Power gains are noticeable, but I imagine I now need a tune...
I wanted to share this experience since it was still cheaper than buying any other name-brand system, and because now I know that very few other Z's sound quite like mine. Let me know what you guys think.

Sound clips are just not very accurate. The drive by clip vs the rear of car clip,
you really can't get a good idea of the difference. All in all,the end result sounds great!
Personnaly,I like a little rasp or what people call "rasp".I had a E-type Jag yearsago with a custom exhaust. It was all rasp.It would crack the windshield of the car behind you!
Great work putting your sytem together.

Thanks. I'm aware that it's an apples and oranges comparison. I haven't had time to do a flyby in the same location with the resonators using the same camera. There really is no good way to compare so poeple are just going to have to take my word.

I was planning on doing these exact two resonators on my Dc Sports exhaust too. HAHAHAHA. I have APS TP's on this exhaust with no resonators. Imagine how loud mine is lol. I like it though, sounds exotic, and the rasp on mine is only from 3.5-4k. Idk about you but mine isn't bad at all. It drones like hell from 2.5k to 3k but other than that its tolerable. Good setup bro

Thanks :-) It kind of sounds italian-esque, I agree. But it's still more VQ than anything. I have been driving mine a bit more, and it is quieter in the cabin when on the highway, almost stock. I am immensely happy with my choice to go with the resonators - before it was "tolerable" but now it's just beautiful, both inside and outside.

Installing dc sport exhaust issues or not
I'm getting installed dc sport cat back exhaust in a few days. I read good reviews and some not so good. One said funny sound at 2000-3000 rpm and another said exhaust tips did not line up well. I will take pics of install and let you know how it works out. I have a 2003 350z with an injen short cold air.

OP had no issue with his exhaust, don't see why you would?

I have this exhaust with TPs and welded in 2 Aero Turbine resonators. There is rasp but its definitely from the Test pipes which I might ditch soon for some ART pipes. It is not crazy loud with the resonators in it though. Get this exhaust, but don't mate it with test pipes. The craftsmanship is superb. My tips lined up fine and I installed it entirely by myself with jack stands.

I have on my G35 370z headers, HFC, M2 y pipe, 3 inch piping, vibrant muffler and one vibrant ultra quiet resonator (not the bottle type), and I have ZERO rasp. Car is loud, sounds exotic, but no rasp
