Default Intake and Exhaust Options for HP Increase?

Please don't tell me to do a search, I did and found a million threads on this topic and just have no idea where to start. I am a new z owner of a 2006 auto. I would like to add some power and an affordable price. My biggest concern is keeping the car just as reliable as it is stock, I do not want to do anything that will put extra stress on the engine, make it more prone to problems, etc.

Basically I am looking to add some hp, not a ton, but a noticeable amount, at an affordable price while keeping the car reliable. I don't know much about this, but I am assuming an intake and exhaust? How much would this add? Also, what about just an intake, would that make any difference at all?

Thanks guys

Yes I did, and there are over a thousand of threads about this topic, all containing different information.

I was just looking at an injen intake and injen exhaust system. They say they will each add about 15hp, so thats 30 total. Would that be a good idea, about 1500 bucks on an intake and exhaust? How much of a noticeable difference will this be?

Your car will only be louder. Performance wise you will gain barely anything

Best bang for the buck combo mods: plenum spacer and HFC / Test Pipes + tune. That's a lot less than 1500 bucks and you will gain some noticeable gain in HP.

if youve read those threads you would know you won't get much hp out of bolt on mods. I doubt you read enough. Most people get intakes/exhaust for the sound, not hp increase. Choose the exhaust that sounds good to you or looks

I am interested in the test pipe and spacer. What exactly would I gain from doing these two things? If I would not gain any hp form an exhaust and intake, then i dont want to bother with that, I like the way the car siunds stock and the sound the exhaust makes isnt important to me, I am just looking to get some extra hp

Best thing would be exhaust, high flow filter or true CAI, HFC's, plenum spacer, and a Osiris tune. You could do that for about $2500 installed if you shop around. Without the tune you'll be lucky to gain anything and your AFR will be out of wack. That'll net you your 30whp.

things that wont stress ur motor
spacer
intake and exhaust test or hi flo cats. since ur east ill run test pipes these will make the car a little more fun. no stress on motor ,car will and may reach 6600rpm quicker and slight higher speeds , these mods are safer and suitable for DD. I never heard of vq's blowing up with these mods. tuning will let mods work together if not ready to tune just reflash and if money tight hit up our market on used intake and exhaust.. I also have t est pipes for sale too. hope this helped.

OP, you will get all kinds of answers with a thread like this, your best bet is to start with the Top 100 FAQ thread and go from there.

-best bang for the buck : test pipes
-intake will add sound but not much power
-exhaust : i would go with an HKS replica and have a magnaflow x-pipe welded to it to reduce noise
-get a plenum spacer..go with blox if u dont want to spend alot
-tune it with uprev afterwards and ull notice some gains

btw im a tennis player myself
