PPE Longtube Headers
^This x1000. I hope someone posts some real results before the group buy is over. It bothers me a little that PPE doesn't appear to have done any R&D on a non-cammed DE. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
well i was gonna say last two dynos on page 3 but those are plots with the headers and cams versus the non cammed motor. i am pretty sure the consensus on the g35driver thread was that non rev cars would really need some cams to make good gains with the headers... touge claims they got good results with them... so i must agree, it would be good to see a dyno...
Posting up a group buy tomorrow, for some reason our vendor account isn't allowed to post in the vendor classifieds. Anyway I'll also post up my dyno sheet tomorrow. I made about 260 on a non cammed DE with 100k miles on a mustang dyno so add 15% for you dynojet guys....Anyway I'm a happy guy ! Next step is to play with the plenum and then switch it out to a mrev etc and then kelfords. I'll be really happy if I can break 300 on a cam'd DE !
We are doing PPE's on one of our G37s builds in the next week or so and I just put another order in for a new HR SC build coming into the shop...But thats going to be a built motor with a 928 etc.

its going to be depending on your rpm band, exhaust scavaging is one of the most complex subjects in performance automotives thats why pro racers spend millions on the subject. in short if you want low rpm-mid range power go long tube, the long narrow runners maximize the exhuast gas velocity in this range and promote low rpm power, in the higher rpm range they can become a restriction, i doubt any NA z is going to see this. short tube headers are good for high rpm since the tubes are short and fat and the gas dosnt stay in them very long before getting into the bigger pipes where they can flow freely.

jerry, agreed... but we do have data that indicates how these headers will perform on our motors. the consensus of the several different dyno sheets is that you are going to gain power everywhere, particularly over the best shorty headers and cat-delete pipes out there, over the vast majority of the powerband and break even with them anywhere you are not gaining. these headers undoubtedly are a win and the extensive testing done by that user proves it. ive had longtubes on literally a dozen cars and havent gone wrong yet.
