Default Art pipes sound increase??

I doubt anyone has done this, but just in case, would anyone happen to have a before and after decibel measurement of the art pipes? Any exhaust will do, I just want to know the sound increase. I ask this because my friend who was running fujit exhaust, installed the arts and it was way louder than expected. Ive read reviews where people state that its quieter than regular hfc and barely made a sound difference, more of a snarl/aggressive tone as others have stated, but this sounded like actual hfc/test pipes. I just want the gains, don't really care for the sound increase, but it seems like it made a big difference on his. Thanks

I don't have any decibel measured, but I do have 2 vid clips of my exhaust. TDX2 and a ART + TDX2.

Youtube.com/JL6speed

Btw, mine doesn't hiss like a normal test pipe would, but it may also be because it's paired with the TDX2, like it was designed. It should be a bit louder than just TDX2.

Don't know about decibels, but I previously had ART pipes.Removed them due
emmission problems in my area.Replaced with Z1 HFC's.I've got a Nismo S-Tune
which is the same exhaust as your friends Fujit. The HFC's are a bit louder at WOT.
No smell at all.I picked up a few hp with the HFC's.They were also much cheaper.

You picke up a few hp when going from Art pipes to HFC?
Did you dyno before and after with both? Did you tune both?
I find this hard to believe.....

Had the ARTS on for about a year.Dyno/tuned at that time.
Went to HFC's,Dyno/tuned also.Picked up the most power
at mid range.HP,whatever is recorded ,to me is meaningless.
What really counts is how the car drives...performs.With, the
HFC's,in situations where you are on a I-85 going 60-65,
you want to pass the idiot blocking the left lane.My time to get
by the jerk has greatly decreased.I use the term, the car feels
"lighter".Its just quicker.

Put mine on about a month ago with my Stillen tde. Decibels are gonna be misleading because they are on a logarithmic scale...something weird like every 6db the sound DOUBLES in volume...don't think most people know that.....

Yeah, they are louder...I can hear air flowing very fast through the pipes beneath me and full-throttle is louder brrappier. Was worried about this too but the Brian O'Conner in me ******* loves them!!! Honest, the gasoline smell is more annoying haha - haven't got a tune yet.

They are louder by a factor let's say x1.3...absolutely no regrets though, and it's my dd.

Do you guys really think the HFC give more hp/tq than these art pipes.....

I am skeptic, find this very hard to believe. We are not gonna go as far as saying the HFC produce better than a straight test pipe are we?

I would love if a shop, say Z1 or motordyne would chime in on this.

I went from berk hfc to art pipes. I was previously tuned with the hfc, I do feel the gain from the low end although I haven't got it retuned nor dynoed. Soundwise art pipes are quieter than the HFCs IMO which is perfect for me.

IMO,test pipes are gonna give the higest gain in power.Of course, with a proper tune. With HFC's the gain will be less but not to the point that
you will actually notice. Those that have had mutiple tune will attest that
you can get different results. There can be variables such as temperature.
It goes without saying that the results from different dynos are all over
the place. As I previousy said, the proof is in the pudding. You get into the
car and drive it.How different or,the same does it feel?Actually, this
entire discussion may be getting overblown as no matter what you do
to you exhaust system, the gains are not gonna turn your car into
a pin-your-back to the seat beast.Need to go the FI route for that.

the HP curve will move with HFCs vs ART /test pipes.

People constantly forget that these breathing mods are WOT AS FAST AS YOU CAN GO mods. They are top top top end power adders which is when flow restrictions take place.

They generally kill the torque you feel. This is what HFCs can allow you to salvage at times.

HP is NOT all equal. It depends where it is in the curve. No one seems to get that when theyre adding up the manufacturere HP gains claims marked on the product box to tell thier friends how much HP they have lol.

One of the main features of art pipes is that they don't loose low end torque IIRC

get the test pipes if you want power and torque. most of the stuff said here is hype. you'll get better performance on long drives with better gas mileage. the engine just runs better with test pipes. i use to hit almost 40mpg highway with that setup

i felt more low end torque and more top end power with the test pipes

hope this helps
