Talking XERD headers and Unothodox Crank Pulley installed

Well to begin i i will go through the install:

The install is similar to the install that can be found on the crawford z car website, however there are a few things that should be noted that do deviate and some steps that can be skipped completely. First of all there is a hidden bolt underneath the coolant pipe on the passenger side which is a bit tricky to find and cannot be seen at all from up top (it must be removed from underneath the car). Second, you do not need to undo the steering u-joint to fit the xerd headers in place (crawford's directions require this.) Third, crawford's instructions require the removal of a motor mount which is also not necessary. Lastly the bolts on the starter need to be screwed in with the head of the bolts facing the rear of the car, not the other direction(although they will screw in the car will not start). Other than that, I think it was extremely helpful to have swivel socket u-joints handy and extremely helpful to have short wrenches that are not the standard length. From all that I have read it was supposed to take 7 hours to install headers with a lift and air tools. To that I say poop on whoever is doing your install, because they must have been drinking alot of beer or didn't know what the hell they were doing. With the help of one of my friends we knocked it out in my garage in 5 hours and with no lift just jackstands. If anyone is interested in getting headers or any z parts installed in the texas or surrounding areas just let me know and i will do it for a cheap price. Also, if anyone just gets hung up installing your own set and needs some troubleshooting help you can e-mail me or aim me at track350zcar@aol.com or if you wanna just call me I would be more than happy to help at 979-219-2748.

PERFORMANCE:
This is probably what everyone will want to read anyways but hear goes. On initial startup and idle the headers combined with my injen true dual exhaust sound absolutely stock. Driving around and accelerating at normal speeds it is barely even louder with no raspiness that everyone else complains about with test pipes. However on full throttle the headers simply scream. Combined with the pulley that i installed at the same time the car feels noticiably faster, especially past 4500 rpms to redline with 3rd and 4th gear feeling faster than ever before. The pulley has seemed to make the car rev faster overall and has greatly improved throttle response and pickup no matter what rpm you start from. Power just seems to come on tap about 500 rpm's faster than before. Before the headers and pulley I could race my friends wrx with intake, up-pipe, downpipe, 3in. exhaust, pulleys, intercooler piping, blow-off valve, greddy profec-b running 17 psi and we were dead even until the end of 4th gear where i would pull a bumper on him. I will race him tonight and see how much more distance i can put on him to put this in a better perspective for all the people who will be clamoring for dyno numbers. Laters, if anyone has any questions let me know.

The bolt that is under the passenger side coolant tube can be reached from above by using a long extension from the front of the engine, much easier to get to that way. The header install would be faster with 2 people for sure and in theory should cut your install time in half if you each take one side of the engine to work on. I did my Crawford header install by myself and it took around 10 hours. The Crawford headers are an even more difficult install because of the amound of tubing that is there going up into that space so it requires a few more steps that are specific to their instructions. These steps as you mentioned simply do not apply to all other headers. I can just about imagine how much your setup screams as I too have the Injen SES and it is incredible, and I am running HF cats not straight through. Did you notice any decrease in low end torque at all?

I live in texas, I go to school at Texas A&M, I would probably end up charging like 450 for the install, because it is quite complicated... I took my car to a performance shop and they were going to try and charge 700 so I figure it would be a good deal.

What price should I expect for a pulley install???

Did you feel a difference from the pulley alone??

Very well spelled
Beginning of april we are driving from Berlin to Nürburgring (nicest
racetrack in the world) with about 15 cars.
It's about 470miles Autobahn from here. Will be fun since there are Big *** Supras and
FDs coming with us. No speed limit, no problems
I'll put my Z on a trailer and drive my single turbo FD
