UPDATE on the plastic PLENUM, plus I need opinions
I'll be honest. I'm on board for the new gen Crawford plenum, but I'm sure this is capable of the same gains.
As I understand it from speaking with Doug, the center supports marked with X's below are the ones that most affect the flow dynamics of the plenum:
0 0 0
X 0 X
The newly designed plenum will have the screws marked below as X's deleted:
X 0 X
X 0 X
As I understand it, this causes the relatively thin aluminum to flex a bit. There are ribs in the new Crawford design which help this, but it will still flex to a certain degree without the extra supports.
The LSD N/A plenum, as I understood it, was a whole different design that replaced the upper and lower plenums. If this is the case, flex could be decreased by designing the runners differently (sort of like Top Secret did it a while back). That's what the original LSD plenum looked like, isn't it?
But hey, if the price is right, and it looks good, that's all that matters to me. I'll be on board to buy one. I vote for black.

No, the NA plenum is only the upper section and has NO RUNNERS. It is plastic and of factory design. It will have a GREAT price to it as well.
The FI plenum will replace both upper and lower, will have runners, and will be aluminum. It will be more expensive.

i am getting three! (2 runs a piece)
1 - friday - baseline with all current mods. (see below)
go home install lsdunique hi-flow cats.
2 - sat - morning - dyno to get #'s on high flow cats.
pull into parking lot and install NEW PLENUM!!!!!!
3- sat - late morning early afternoon - go back in for another 2 runs to find out what this puppy can do.
i plan on putting a few miles on the car between each dyno. (as many as I can!)

As those are found in the lower.
Correct...?
Upper section of course would not have runners...
How come he hasn't posted pics if the thing is going out later this week?
Pics will be up soon. All_bark is dynoing the FIRST model off production line. When that pops out of the magic machine it will be photographed and installed and dynoed. In a couple days I think.
Also, Phoenix, the stock upper section has no runners but you remember the pics posted the very first time LSD was talking about plenums? A variation of that pic will be produced with smaller runners for FI applications and NA applications (with less gains). The plastic plenum is stock shaped (like Crawford I think - never seen it!) and designed for NA applications (although mine will eventually see boost). Maybe later I will switch to the FI plenum but it will be more moolah.
