The temperatures were taken dead center on the outside surface of the top of the plenum, right about 1 inch below the logo.
ooo, how u gonna go and do that and not take the dyno; I'm dying to see it and then dying to save up more money so I can buy it =)

So based on the every 10 deg equals 1% HP is that an 8.5 HP gain just based on reduced temps due to plastic vs. aluminum alone?

I have been following these threads about LSD's new plenum every day, and I just want to add my comment to the "excited" group of people.

There have been a handful of people on here doubting your work LSD, and I'd just like to say that ... win or lose with this plenum, I applaud your hard work, and dedication towards your product(s) ... Not many people on here have the know-how to even attempt making a modification for their Z from design concept to finish. Me personally? I'll leave it to the professionals.

So, keep up the good work, and I look forward to your results when available!

I don't think so. The temps LSD posted are surface temps of the plenum cover. The gains are seen when the actual air temp is lower. While you'll most likely see lower air temps due to this, the change won't be as drastic as the surface temps.

I don't want to confuse anyone about the tmperature testing.

True that every 10 degrees equals about 1% in HP gain, but these temperature ratings are only surface temperatures.

The air travels through your intaketube and plenum very rapidly so the effect on actual air intake temperature is going to be much less. We will do actual air intake temperature testing to see if we cant get a noticeable difference.

I think dropping the air intake temperature even 5 degrees would be awesome, it would be like a bonus 1HP

Hmm, isn't that how most honda owners are doing their dynos nowadays?

Smile All_Bark - please one Mod at a time

All_bark, LSD UniQue

With respects to existing Dyno.... Please do not add two changes at the same time..

In Effect... Previous dyno run and then change Plenum and add High Flow cats. Any power improvements on new Dyno would not indicate which Mod was responsible for adding power.

One Change - New Dyno Run...

Cheers Amy -

The cats have already been installed and dynoed almost a week ago. This will provide the baseline for the plenum to by dynoed tomorrow. It's cool.

Could a plenum that does not transfer heat to the engine bay be detrimental to the intake charge?

By my math there is a 20% change in temp, so 2hp gained

However that is moot because of the statement made above. I would add that the air will be heated some, but it all depends on heat-soak and the speed your moving.

I await the dyno like everyone and I thank those involved for getting this done so openly. I would think about a cat/plenum group buy
