Jeebus! Here comes the where's Waldo 80mm tb!
Looks like there's tons of material on the backside, gona make it 80 all the way through!

Naw, I'll leave it to you once you get your TB to have yours milled 80mm through. And I don't know if it's possible. I think the butterfly is possibly 77 or 78mm. The reason I think this, is because that pic with my MAF, that's as far down as it will go and that's only about 5mm inside the TB.

I'm going to try to measure the butterfly today when I get home from work. Just to know exactly how much it's tapered from the front to the middle.

Hmmm, well this was an unexpected result. The butterfly is 74mm meaning it is tapered from 80 to 75 at the butterfly bracket. It's 40mm deep from the top to the bracket.

And you see right here where it becomes nice and polished, it is "stepped up" by what seems like 1mm. So from the top to polished area it tapers 80-76mm, and is 75mm the rest of the way through.

hmm very interesting, i wonder if they just used the same bits as the 2k9 maxima tb, and just put it in a larger housing. everything else seems identical.

Oh NPR, if you want to have this thing milled, you'll have to pop the rivets holding the plastic cover over the TB electronics and gears. I thought that seemed a little excessive to have that cover RIVETED on. Guess that's one way to guarantee that if somebody fiddles with the TB, nissan would just say "well you F'ed up the TB because you fiddled with our rivets, dumbass"

Yeah I had to do that with my stock one, just a lil drill bit. And I've got a rivet gun, they are like 15 bucks at autozone then rivets I took a tb to some place by Seattle to get it bored out...took like 2 weeks and I wasn't super pleased that I had to do the disassembly my self. Or you can always use machine screws and some loctite. Something I fully expected this though. But I ain't scurred.

Hmm, well just a pic of the NWP throttle body from the back. It seems like their spacer would work. Mine looks basically identical, minus the cooling piping and the number on the left side. This picture shows its a "2" in between the black cover and opening.

The NWP TB is on the right.

hmm interesting. thatd be nice if the spacer worked. save some headache eh? and doesnt the m45 tb have a 1 stamped on the back?
im just gona call it the wheres waldo tb, or wwtb for short.

Ya, that picture is actually the factory TB on the left and NWP TB on the right. And yes, the M45 has a "1" where the NWP has a "2". Don't know the significance of that, but I guess we'll find out soon enough. Hopefully NWP get back with me soon as possible on the spacer measurements.

Need to research porting a V+ before it gets here. Gotta widen it by 3mm, and that might take some time.

Well if the bolt holes match up on the nwp adapter you should be golden, I do believe that it is 72, or 73 mm as the 2k9 tb tapers from 75 to 72-73. But if that's the case, a bit of expanding with the dremel will do the trick.
On a side note isn't the stock intake opening 71mm?
Enough with the spacer that you wouldn't have to worry bout port matching .

So I've been emailing Aaron at NWP and he confirmed that the M45 will work will his adapter plate. He also told me that the only difference between the M45 and maxima TBs is that the maxima has the coolant lines. I just thought his TB was 75mm all the way through, NOPE! So anybody that wants to go to a larger TB, the NWP kit is the best way to go. 80mm intake to a 75mm back plate. I ordered my adapter plate last night, and just waiting on my new V+ plenum. Got my shipment from kinetix yesterday...sent me HFCs. So they're sending the plenum express and should be here Friday.

OH SNAP!!!! HOWD I MISS THIS? oops caps locks is on...will i guess i know what ill be ordering soon! just gotta see if i can grind a few mm of the nwp bracket and ill be going 80 all the way through!

Ya, Aaron said Hitachi has never made anything larger than a 75mm back plate. And that reselling the maxima TBs is cheaper way to go since it was more massed produced than the M45, and some guys need the coolant lines. Hopefully everything will be in by Friday and I can get to working on the plenum to port match it and flatten the under side. Then flatten the area on top where my hood touches to reduce noise.
