Default 80 mm tb?

well to start this off i was set on making a 90mm ls2 tb work...but in my hunt i came across a hitachi 80mm tb, on a nissan..sort of! now when i saw it i immediatly recognized the plug. the first pictures are of an m45 tb, apperently its larger than the q45 tb, that gasp! used the same throttle body as our vq.
the first three are of the q45s throttle body
the last 3 are from the 09 maxima tb, with the tell tale devil horns as i like to call them.
now from my research the q45 has a 80mm opening and tapers down to about 75mm. it also looks to have a bit more materiel than the 2k9 tb. also the m45 intake tract is all 80~82mm.
food for thought
reasons it wont work?
im ready for it

So would you just need the NWP harness to do either the maxima or m45 TBs? That's all it looks like we would need...?

You'd need the harness, the tb, and then an adapter for the tb to the im. That's for either of them. I'm running the velocity manifold so whenever I give it a go, I'm just gona drill and tap some new holes...or get a 1/2 sqaure of aluminum I'm gona take a drill and deemed too.

Ya, for me using the V+ it'll be a little hairy drilling new holes. Wonder if NWP will just sell me the harness?

Edit: found PnP harness- http://www.voltagedrop.net/products/tbharness

Now to search for a used M45 TB, because brand new ones are the same price as doing the whole NWP kit.

I've found them for about 250$ on some of the warehouse car part places, and ~200 on eBay.
So
250$ tb
100$ harness
20$ 1/2 chunk of aluminum
30$ for tap and a beastly drill bit too drill it out
?$ time drilling and grinding to make the adapter.
20$ for silicone coupler 2.75" to 3" (or in your case 3" to 3")
95$ to get it bored out too 80mm all the way through.

So about 500$...but even if it gains 5hp that's 100$ per hp, still better than exhaust.
I don't think this would really work with a stock intake mani as the neck on it is the bottle neck. But any aftermarket one with a larger neck would definiatly benefit from this. I would like to see how this would do with a 3.5" intake. But I'm just a normal de so I don't know if I have the cams to take advantage of all this, but building the foundation right? I figure with some ppe lth, a motor dyne xyz with an exhaust cutout. Some 272 cams, and 11:1 compression, will get me where I wanna be.

Ya I found a couple TBs on eBay right around that $200 range. I won't go over that buying this TB. And I wouldn't bore it out to 80mm through in through since the tapered 75mm is already bigger than factory, and to keep cost down. For me, I'm just looking for the TB, harness, and steady hands for drilling. Right now, I'm more worried about if it might hit the hood when I shut it. I just noticed while getting retuned, my intake hose is rubbing the hood a little bit.

Sounds like someone needs too get some washers to raise the good a hair. Or if there is the brace stuff in that spot, a little bit of dremel trimming.

Already cut out a little, and where the blue tape is where I still need to cut a little more. And I've already got 3 washers on each hood mounting post. That 1/2" spacer really made clearance issue, haha.

I made a set of hood spacers out of a set of blox hood spacers, I used a 5/8 or...7/8 drill bit to drill them out 3/4 ish of the way down. That way they could bolt to the hood. Then drilled and tapped two holes in it. Then drilled two holes in the hinges and bolted it up. I ended up selling them and the hinges for like 200$ and a set of stock hinges.
All you need is a half inch or whatever size you need, Two drill bits a tap and 4 bolts. I liked it but I didn't really love it.

Well I want to get some hood dampeners and I think it would be easier to raise the hood up then....I think?

...ya, it sounded better in my head. I think it'll be easier to use spacers/washers to get better clearance using the hood dampers (not dampeners).

So just got my tax return and going to order my replacement plenum, get that PnP harness, and a M45 TB I found on eBay. I need to figure out a good way to port match the neck of the plenum to the TB.

i borrowed this from nwp, i hope they dont mind. but something like this. i took a look at the v+ and it looks like a tight fit with a bigger tb! but if you got a drill and a dremel it should be super easy to make!

Ya, I'm going to take a look and see what I can do. And I'd rather stay away from the NWP spacer because it's tapered down to 70mm to match the neck of the factory plenum. And I'd rather widen my kinetix neck to match the 75mm of the TB. That way it just goes from 80-75, rather than 80-75-70 and in to the plenum.

Pretty sure it's the same diameter as the factory TB.

So I got my PnP harness and used 2009 M45 TB today. I'm definitely going to need the NWP adapter, but I've got to some measurements from them first. I need to make sure this TB will line up with there drilled holes.

NPR you are correct, 80mm tapered to 75mm

Hmmm, this might be a problem

Naw it fits, basically

Here is why I'll need the NWP spacer. Just see if it's even possible to adapt this TB to the V+ neck! I measure from the outer edge of the bolt hole to outer edge. It's basically 88mm, just couldn't get the camera angle right with my phone.
Name: IMAG0148_zpsy9zpmx3f.jpg

And the V+ measures 85mm in total across. So no even worth trying to drill new holes.
Name: IMAG0149_zpscpjnkklq.jpg
Views: 1189
Size: 65.6 KB

And a good comparison of size here. My 3" MAF sits nicely just inside the front of the TB. This thing is big.

Now just waiting on my new plenum to arrive and port match the neck of the plenum to the TB
