Numbers look to be impressive. Nice gains throughout the ENTIRE curve... Can anyone tell us what the A/F ratios look like? If we're not running lean I'll be adding my order ASAP. I already have the cats... time for the next step...

all-bark, Does this plenum have the same "whistling" sound the crawford unit makes? Louder or quieter? Will all the flexing issues be solved by the first production run? I AM READY TO BUY!!!

There will be no flexing issues in the production versions.

There is no whistling sound either.

As soon as I can get my hands on one of these, we'll throw it on my car to see what it does with a cammed/fully modified car. I'm out of bolt on's and even the P&P job on the heads didn't net anything. This should be an interesting test as my rev limiter is also set at 7200rpm.

I'm a little confused here. On page 2 the dyno chart shows a max hp of 266 with all the mods listed plus the new plenum. On page 4 it shows a max hp of 256 with all the same mods. Is this due to the cf and smoothing being changed?

man, I can already hear the blah, blah, blahs that will follow this post.

13 rwhp! from the plenum, NFW!

well, it was true for me (unless the cats have a small part of it)
One quick question, or actually two.
I noticed you have cropped the "correction factor" out of this screen shot.
Was this done "SAE" or "none".
And why was it cropped out?
Thanks

LSD -

Do you think the power down low is attributed more to the cats and the power up high more to the plenum?

Congrats on a great product. Can't wait to get one out here.

I imagine there was no turbulance to begin with. Not to start a war, but air likes to flow in a smooth path. When you make it go around sharp corners like a sharp bend in an exaust pipe there is resistance. Perhaps the sharp bend in the crawford plenum creates this "whistling." I am trying to say the kinetix manifold is better or anything, Just trying to explain the whistle. We really need to get these things on a flow bench.

I think if you read the thread you'll see that his first plots were displayed uncorrected. Then he published another set of SAE corrected plots. Since he has the dyno data file rather than simply a printout, he can switch between the two.

As you doubtless know, KJY9, the SAE number provides a more accurate representation of the actual peak HP number (i.e. he's not really putting down 266 HP at the wheels but rather 256) but the before-after ratio will be exactly the same and that's what everyone was most interested in.

On all_bark's car the Cats + Plenum = about 17 rwhp. Probably about what he could have expected from the Crawford combo as well.

The key is that all the dynos that are being compared are set to the same correction factor. It doesn't matter if it's set to1.00 or 1.05....as long as it's the same for all of them you will be able to see the gains. While it will affect the actual peak numbers it will affect them the same all around.
Actually it matters a lot. You'll notice the first dynos posted (uncorrected) showed a gain of around 13hp between runs 6 and 13. The last set (SAE corrected) show a total gain of 8hp or 40% less than originally advertised.

Either way, the gains look impressive and are across the entire rev range. Good work guys! What is the price of this piece? Is it polished?

Care to send me a sample to run back to back comparison against a polished Crawford unit?

BTW, I find it amusing that there was such a big stink about the number of dynos Crawford ran while tweaking their ECU yet no one here has said anything about the number of dynos run to dial in the Kinetix ECU.

I'm not saying either is doing a better or worse job... it's just a fact that you have to do some R&D to get these things to work no matter whose doing it.

I think they'd want to test against the best Crawford has to offer. That'd be the Version 5 polished I just happen to have one laying, oh, on the top of my engine.
