Waiz, Super nice Z ( RS concept clone). Any plans to cut the louvers in the hood?
Thanks
I have tossed around the idea of cutting my hood for years but I think getting a aftermarket vented HR hood is probably what I am more leaning towards.
Nice. In the youtube clips im hearing decel rasp as rpm drops can you confirm?
If no one else replies, I'll give you feedback after the weekend when I install mine. Although, I'd like to put some mileage on it and get familiar with the sound before I share my opinion.
Well, I decided to install the exhaust in the middle of the night as I was a bit anxious. If on only knew...
When they say "you get what pay for", it's pretty much an obvious outcome for the items you pay the least for. I'll keep this short and too the point.
After the oem exhaust finally came off the car, the ISIS/Megan Y-back went on pretty straight forward. I noticed some clearance issues prior to tighten the fasteners but, that clearence looked good when everything was set...or so I thought. I started the engine and idled for about 20mins, re-tightened the fasteners and look the exhaust over again.
After a ten minute drive I encounter two problems.
-the outlet contacted my bumper covered and melted the plastic. I now have a melted bumper cover and plastic stuck to the exhaust. Great...
-the mid-resonator contacts the driveshaft! I can hear a nice sound of scrapping during rev-matching downshifts. FML
Back to the drawing board. I'll have to media-blast the tip again, repaint and trim my melted bumper.
Damn that sucks. As for the tip and bumper i think that can happen with any exhaust it happened with my agency power single as well as my current tomei however the tomei is adjustable so i can keep it off my bumper. What i am suprised about is drive shaft clearance that really blows
Highlighted by the yellow circle, this is the area where the contact to the driveshaft occurs. I going to see if I can turn the pipe away from the driveshaft from the flange but, there is very little movement allowed. I'm certain it's not installed backwards or upside down. If it was to be flipped, it would point straight out the rear. The angles are partially made up at the flanges. The flanges are welded at specific angles to make up the overall profile of the single exit.
In regards to the tip melting my bumper cover I'm sure it could happen with others but, it shouldn't. The hanger closest the exit it welded on and doesn't make life easy for adjustments. I'll live with that. I ended up trimming the center section of the bumper cover out. I basically went from the tangent point of each arch in a straight line across. The clearence now will be sufficent. Not my preferred outcome.
The rear section will come off again to be media-blasted again and I will trim the length of the tip(it's obnoxiously long), then it'll be repainted. Sigh...
I usually spend money on parts when I don't want to make them or rework them, and this happens.
Strait pipe that. Thats really messed up. I was thinking I was correct all day and thought you were going to write back and say in a genius... Guess im still of only average to questionable intelligence.
