Got my Kinetix HF Cats Yesterday...But..??
Got my Kinetix HF cats yesterday. It looks pretty good. Welding looks alright. But the bolt & nut it came with doesn’t screw in. The bolt can only go into the nut no farer than its tip. The thread seems to be not matching...
Is it supposed to be like that?

damnit, you had me worried with that PM!!
haha, I think I am going to just ship normal nuts. I can totally see the confusion because they are locking nuts.
I have had several people ask me about the exact same thing. One of my customers actually went out and bought all new hardware.
I will be including some install tips in the near future.

not that soon...I havent got it install yet. But from looking, its quality is pretty nice for that price. Staineless piping and all. Not as heavy as I thought it would be. I remember I heard somewhere that its only 1/2 the stock weight? Tho I did put a flash light in the piping to look thu the cat...uh huh, its high flow alright
And it will still pass the smog, now thats nice.
There arent any nylon inserts in these lock nuts, they are a crimp type.
Also, I remember a while back about a comment on the welding quality of the Cats or lack of welding quality.
The comment was referring to the discoloration surrounding the welds, but the welding being referred to is the factory Carsound welding, which we have no control over.
The carsound cats are made of a thin stamped sheetmetal and the welds arent messy but they are not TIG welded.
All of our welds are tig welded, but the carsound welds cannot be avoided.

One thing I think that would be nice for the future is if Lsd put the cats and hardware in a small bag. When I got my cats, some of the hardware had fallen off and was mixed in with the packing peanuts. In addition, I had packing peanuts IN my cats.
Not really a problem, but be sure to get all the peanuts out of the cats before you install. I know of the new "burn in" smell but I'm not sure I'd want to smell burnt peanuts too.
I've had my cats on for about 80 - 90 miles now. They seem to have opened up a little bit. I really can't hear them over the Borla Dual I have on. They are NOT loud at all. They do sound a little more agressive from the exterior of the car. It's a very nice high performance, torquey sound.

Good point about the hardware, and the peanuts. I have at times thought about those peanuts as I am packing up a set and watching them drop into the pipes, we are moving towards more professional packing though with the hardware in bags as well.
