That's why I'm sticking with the v-plenum for now. I removed a lot of material inside the neck to match the 75mm t.b. among other things, which all made a big difference. 1/2 way down the page on the link below for more photo's.

I mean the DE can only flow so much anyway, if you truly want the max NA power you are far better off with ITBs. There were no bigger bolt on TBs at the time and since space and everything is an issue I don't think they would be willing to go back to the drawing board with something like that. The velocity should be sufficient for 90% of folks out there.

So what happened to this guy?
Anyway, if you make one or more, I double dog dare you to relocate your battery and weld the neck on the plenum facing the battery box instead of the brake booster box & shove the shortest and fattest pipe possible on there with the filter ending up inside the new cold air filter box. You'd need to get outside air into that box.

Just wanted to post my dyno results in here after getting's Moncef's Admin Tuning intake for my '05 DE in case anyone finds it helpful.

- Original engine has 102K miles on it with stock internals
- Admin intake
- NWP 75mm TB
- Z1 angled plenum spacer
- Berk HFCs
- Motordyne Shockwave TDX2

I moved on. Those plenums I made took too much time to fabricate. The next step was doing a whole cast upper but this community wasn't going to support the investment. I check in here from time to time to see if anyone ever got one of my uppers fully supported.

Do you have a before graph to compare to?

its common knowledge that any intake mods will require (at minimum) an ECU reflash ... add $500 to whatever your cost is to gain 20? to 30hp? The dollars per hp gained just doesn't work out...

I don't have a graph prior to the admin tuning intake install unfortunately. Prior to the tune, hp was 251 at the wheels with my modifications.

I like the intake + tune dynos but no tuned vs new intake and retune. You can get 20 HP from a tune, so from that point of view the intake is only 10 HP. So the intake doesn't give you 30hp...

something that's never brought up when people do the full gambit of bolt-ons and then a tune...

would be interesting to see what someone could get from just a retune...

Gotcha.
The battery box is where the filter belongs. It will dramatically shorten the pipe, keep the filter out of the bay and straighten out the turn in the neck quite a bit. I did a lot to address some of these issues in my own way with good success, so I'm not going this route but I do believe this would be the hot setup for n.a. without bending over for itb's.
I wonder if kinetix would be willing to reverse and shorten up the neck on the velocity. I can't see why that would be a big deal, assuming they make it and don't export their labor. I'd love to see someone carry out my idea.

I think it all depends on one's perspective. FI via compressor is great cheap power but has multiple drawbacks, most of which I don't have to point out. Personally, I'm willing to spend more to get reliable usable power all the while keeping the engine bay loose and free of everything compressor related for several reasons. One can then use n2o to keep the compressor guys at bay without cluttering up the entire front end of the car, all the while avoiding the associated heat, all that weight in the worst possible place (right up front), spending less $ to make up for the costly n.a. mods and better reliability, assuming one's not juicing so frequently and everything is dialed in correctly.
To each his own.

I think a main drawback for putting the intake in the battery box is the MAF sensor and Throttle Body harness, you would have to extend that their harness to make it work.

Also isn't the battery box completely enclosed not allowing you to get fresh air?

No need to extend them. You just gotta open up the loom and re-route the wires a bit. There's plenty of extra length in there.
Yeah, it is. Where there's a will, there's a way or some **** like that. Just got to get creative with some aluminum or abs plastic and maybe go cowl induction or something else.

The scoop is below the frame rail in pic 1 and where air enters in pic 2. The big black box is the filters home. It's 100% sealed off from the bay. Made the scoop to help a potential negative pressure area possibly created by drawing air from this location. IAT's are WAY down but not sure if it's helping to create positive pressure for the filter or not.

How is the air directed to the battery box? It looks like that's the driver side of the car.
